Someone local to me wants to trade his stock sub and trim pieces with my non sub base trim pieces. Does anyone know what i would need to make this stock sub work on a base system? I already have a powered sub wired up on the back. I have the base radio system now.

I haven't done a lot of research on this specifically, but in general you'll have to have the OEM Alpine amp, all of the wiring, and the 8.4 radio. Another option would be to use what you've got, wire in an aftermarket amp and power the OEM sub.

Thanks for the info! Def. Wont be cost effective to get the 8.4 and stock amp so i may just get a small stand alone amp and wire sub in with my wires that are already run for my current setup.

That will typically be the route most people take!! I think in the long run you'll have a more even sound from both subs. I've added a sub while keeping the OEM sub on an Alpine setup and the OEM sub is way out of sync with the aftermarket sub.

Good to know! May just pass on this offer and stick with aftermarket. Sounds less costly too. Thanks again for your input.

The stock Alpine sub has four coils. To run it with an aftermarket amp you would have to wire it as if it were two 2 ohm DVC subs. I did it when I installed a Quart stage 6 about a year ago and added the Quart sub amp. Ended up replacing the stock sub with the Quart drop in sub when it was released last December.
