Is this possible if it’s before production? I feel stupid for not adding the full time 4WD for my wife and want it now.

Once the order is accepted, unfortunately there is going back unless you do another order.

full time 4 WD is the only way to go for driving fast on snow & ice. But it's not a show stopper. It's rare that you can change. It might be possible to cancel and start over, but usually you'd lose your deposit for that.

If they haven't started production they should let you add stuff for additional cost and $100 extra late change penalty. But they're not set up to do that.

Not really for driving fast. But my wifes been driving my gladiator in the snow while her Jeep is getting built. She had trouble driving it the other day on ice and she has no knowledge of 4WD so I FaceTimed her how to put it into auto 4X4. It was that moment I wished I had gotten it because she wouldn’t have to second guess herself and I wouldn’t have to worry about her using 4X4 on the street. Sounds like you can’t change it, I did email the dealer but was just curious.

Full time 4WD is much better than 4WD because it's got a differential in the transfer case, so much better for going around corners fast. I used to ice race in Montana, and 4x4 ice racing is guaranteed spin out. Sub's ruled.

If your dealer is experienced there is a chance, I have read about it happening. Think they have to contact some regional manager or production manager or something to make a change. Most come back with a no though. Just reading over last couple of years.
