I have 10k miles on my MT JLUR, including a trip to Ouray and back from Texas and no problems at all. I hope this doesn't appear though.
Ouray is a great trip from Texas! Depending on which way you go, many things to do and see. Lot's of trailheads between Durango and Ouray too. I was lucky to live in Montrose for 18 months, out on the trails every weekend when they were open. The Mesa is the best in my book. Many great memories for sure.

Thanks!

The tune on the JL is not good. Hopefully Jeep comes out with an update.

I’m surprised there is not a person who does performance tunes on the 3.6l.
Tunes for the 3.6L have been short coming since the motor was introduced in 2012. Fiat locked down the ECU when the Pentastar came out and it was almost impossible to jail break. I worked with a tuner/hardware mfg for over a year trying to get around the ECU debacle. No luck, so I replaced the Pentastar with an LS6/16L80. No more issues!

Ha ha, thanks! I guess I should have looked at that. I get on a roll and forget the details...

I just picked up a new JL 6-spd standard, so I was only paying attention to the subject.

Retired from Corrections....I have stories.
And I thought this was going to be a warning that a kid that can run a game control with 20+ functions, while doing complex key combinations and chatting on the mic can easily learn how to drive a manual transmission in about 4 minutes in a parking lot so your Jeep is not safe from the current generations of Jeep thieves kind of post.

Wrong again I am.

I have a 2018 JLUR 6-speed that was special ordered on 12/31/17. 75k miles and still going strong. I did do the clutch recall but haven't had any issues at all with the transmission. My daughter drove it the last 1.5 years (since all kids my kids must learn to drive stick) but I've recently reclaimed it and love it just as the day it was new.

That is awesome to hear, on both accounts. I too taught my daughter to drive a stick, but not in the 2012 Jeep. She learned to drive a standard in my 2006 911 Carerra S!

I never had any std tranny problems or clutch problems with my other Jeeps, but the auto tranny on my 2012 JKU went totally out just before 6,000 miles, on the way to a weekend rally for wounded vets no less. I eventually swapped out the Pentastar/auto trans with a donor LS6/16L80 after a couple frustrating years of trying to get more power out of the Pentastar.

I had a 2018 JL with the new 8-spd tranny. I thought that tranny made all the difference between JK's and JL's. I didn't feel the need to repower like I did the 2012 JKU.

I picked up my 2025 JL March 1st and specifically ordered the 6-spd with 4.88 gears. I'm currently running 35" KM3's on Method bead grips with a 2-1/2" lift, but need to get the 37's on as soon as I can make the necessary mod's. 1st gear is basically useless on the road, but it is really cool to be able to idle around 2 to 3mph in 4-Hi off road. And it just inches along in 4-Lo. Great for the slickrock trails.
