I have the 7" Uconnect on my wrangler. Does anybody have any experience with using the nav system for trails on the 7"?

I am trying to decide if I should pay to have the nav system unlocked or if I should just buy a dedicated GPS. I would much rather have the nav system integrated into the Jeep if it displays trails/forest service roads, etc.

Your best chance for that is to use an app on your phone with Carplay/AndroidAuto. I use Apple maps with mine but it only has a few forest roads marked on their system. I've heard of other apps that can help with offroad trails but I have no Experience with them personally.

My JL Sport S also has the 7" UConnect system, so...

I use CarPlay Apple Maps for on-road navigation and I have a Magellan TR7 for off-road navigation.

As previously mentioned the 7" is not NAV capable. However it is Carplay/Android Auto capable meaning if you have an app on your phone that supports the appropriate software, you can display it on the screen. With Android auto I do not regret built in GPS at all.

I have the 8.4, the NAV is useless, then paying an arm and leg for their updates is another issue.

I use NAV on my phone mounted on the windshield, I also found Android Auto to be a higher level of useless.

Android Auto seem like a nice idea when I had my JK with the archaic uConnect, until you actually get to use AA and realize it's garbage.

The navigation on the 8.4 is barely usable on normal roads, off-road would have to terrible (haven't tried it).
