Any reason you couldn’t use 5w20 in the 2.0L turbo engine? This may have been discussed previously but, just curious I have a lot of back stock Ravenol SFE left over that we used in our now traded Durango RT and don’t want to waste it. Thanks for the replies!

Yes it’s a 2.0L turbo. I was just curious if I could use up the 5w20 once winter hits so not to waste it.

Don't want to waste it ? Sell it to someone who can use it, stick with the manual- recommended oil for the 2.0T.
There are several reasons for doing this, as you will discover.

Just spend the 50 bucks and use what’s recommended. Win/win

I run 5W30 Shaffer in my VW and Jeep. Wrong oil for both. Let me be the Guniea Pig for that. If I have an issue I'll just sell them and let it be someone elses problem. That's the beauty of using the wrong stuff. Having a problem, sell it. As of now, they run fine but I'm on the lookout for any issues as I am doing it wrong.

These numbers, 5W-30 and 0W-30, are not suitable for heavy-duty use. I have analyzed the Liqui Moly Molygen 5W-30 oil, which has API SP specifications. I have also tested different types of 5W-40 API SP oils, such as the Korean-made Kixx, Saudi-made Shell Helix Ultra from natural gas, and currently, I am in the process of testing the American-made Lucas oil.

I have come to realize that for heavy-duty use, in hot weather conditions, traffic congestion, and off-road environments, the oil viscosity should be very high.

Soon, I will conduct tests and analysis on 0W-40 oils, such as the Omani-made Shell Helix Ultra and the Amsoil Signature Series, which is made in the USA.

I use 5w-40. But I can fix it if I need to.
You wouldn't happen to run any engine oil reports, or have any personal observations as far as wear goes with 5w-40 oil on the 2.0T engine, would you?

I'm considering a switch to 5w-40 to help deal with my oil dilution issue, so I'm curious what your experience with 5w-40 has been!
