I'm sure this will be controversial, but I was never a fan of the 392 badges on the hood.

Unfortunately to debadge you can't just remove the emblems and move on as they are not attached via adhesive only. They have two locating pins on the emblem and two alignment holes in the hood.

I was originally going to have my body shop remove the emblems, fill the holes and then repaint but after looking at $$ it was cheaper just to buy the Mojave hood, paint it and transfer the guts from my 392 hood.

Nice looking jeep.

Cheaper to buy a new hood than fill two small holes… crazy. I get it though. I debated my normal rubicon day one. The only indicator left is the stitching on the seats. I like it plain so much better.

I like plain as well, but couldn’t you just fill the holes with some high quality stainless hardware and call it a day?

He would know they are there, not OCD approved. Anyway- the Mojave hood had to be painted, so buying the hood was cheaper than filling 4 small holes. That doesn’t seem possible, what was the body shop charging for filling them ?

As for the cost breakdown I get the questions. I thought the same thing with only 4 small holes to fill. Unfortunately, the Jeep OEM 392 hood has foam in it. Foam and welding don’t play well together so the shop was hesitant. We started looking at other options and here is how it played out.

Note….I have friends in the industry so these prices will probably not apply to the masses.

1st Option

Use original hood and fill 4 indexing holes

Weld / Prep / Paint - $550 (Potential fire risk in foam)

2nd Option

Buy New OEM Mojave hood / Prep / Paint / Transfer hydro-guide and other hood accessories - $1200

Sell OEM 392 hood - $1000 +

Nets out at $200 +/-

I understand this was a lot of hassle just to remove the 392 emblems, but they bothered me that bad (OCD at its finest).
