Looking to protect the new SOT and a lot of people recommend this product. First time user. Some questions:
  • Needs to be put on a clean top, what's the best way to clean the top first?
  • How often do you need to reapply?
  • Damp, but don't saturate seems like a fine line to walk
  • Should I be concerned with all the flammable warnings?
  • Assume nothing else on the Jeep to use 303 on (seats are leather)
  • Any tips or tricks?
Thanks

I just bought some from Amazon, too. I’m anxious to see the responses because I, too, was a little gun shy after reading all the details.

Use a quality car shampoo and a soft sponge or quality microfiber towel. Wash as if you were washing the vehicle itself.

How often do you need to reapply?
I apply to my Sunrider for Hardtop every 6 months.

Damp, but don't saturate seems like a fine line to walk
I spray onto a sponge applicator and apply that way.

Should I be concerned with all the flammable warnings?
No.

Assume nothing else on the Jeep to use 303 on (seats are leather)
Any black exterior trim.

I use 303 Aerospace Protectant on my leather seats... remember that they are “finished” leather, so conditioners are not needed or recommended. (303 is a great UV protector, which is important for a convertible. I also use it on my dash, console, fenders, hood vents, cowl, etc.)

For the soft top windows and headlights I use Plexus.

Fabric guard is great on the soft top.

I use a vacuum cleaner with a soft bristle wall brush to clean a dry fabric/ twill top . This lifts out dust, dirt, pollen . Dried mud, crusty, can be scrubbed with a stiff brush, to loosen, then vacuumed.

YEP...
303 aerospace on plastics like bumpers, side mirrors and inside of doors/plastic grab handles/sport bar etc.
plexus for soft top windows. some use maguier’s plastX for headlight restoration as it can be found at local auto store.
303 marine or outdoor fabric guard on twill top. spray and leave it alone for 12 hours. i stuff a sheet between the unlatched top and the windshield and doors to protect from overspray. don’t get on soft top windows. i spring clamp a sheet to the edge of the top to prevent overspray from getting on soft top windows. or maybe do when windows out.

Long time boater here. In the boating community, 303 is considered the best stuff. They make a few product ... 1.). A cleaner, 2.) A fabric protectant (for cloth tops, etc.), and 3.) Their "Aerospace Protectant." Use that where you would use Armor All (Plastic trims, vinyl, etc). (303 Aerospace protectant is better than Armor All).

I bought a gallon of the 303 outdoor fabric from Costco, and everytime I see it on a good sale anywhere I buy

I use it on the SOT, I usually put two coats early spring 24 hours apart, top up a coat in the summer, then 2x coats again in autumn.

Seems to work very well for me, after a downpour the top dries off pretty quickly.

I don't wash the top directly, all I do is when I wash the Wrangler, there is over spray of water on the top, I use a clean microfiber cloth to wipe the top dry.

Costco usually sells a bag, I think it's 36 cloths, I buy a bag when it's sale maybe once a year.

As the cloths gets used once on the body or twice on the roof, they get reused for dirty work elsewhere, mats, bumpers, wheels, engine etc.

That's not a big step. Armor All now is not Armor All for 20 years ago.
