2026 Wrangler Uconnect 5 Problems

I bought my 2026 Rubicon X November 17, 2025. Shortly after I noticed the built in navigation (Tom Tom) would be stuck showing vehicle at the last place where I last shut it off. It has never stopped working while driving so seems to be a problem at start up.
I usually use Android Auto, but noticed that when the compass in the center instrument display shows a red arrow with two lines under it instead of N, NE, E, etc. that the Tom Tom would not be working. Hard and soft resets did nothing to help and after the reset a partial screen would come back missing the row of icons to the left and moving around like a screen saver. I have had multiple visits to two different dealers and they were unable to help stating an "update" was coming. The 2024 I traded in was fine and had the latest software. Never had a problem. As I said I usually use Android Auto anyway but now few times when I start the Jeep the screen goes black and reboots on it's own as a screen saver. So now I shut it off, open door and restart and eventually it comes back normal. Tom Tom may or may not be working. It may be fine for a day or two, then not work for a day or two. It has never "froze" while driving and all other functions of the radio unit work as they should.
I filed a case with Jeep Connect and got nowhere making it necessary to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau as well. On my last visit to the dealer I was told they could not replace the radio until the next update is installed that is coming out the first quarter of 2026. In the past I had problems with my Chevy Silverado and the radio units were replaced after testing couldn't fix them. That Stelantis will not replace a non working radio unit does not make for good publicity for them.
Other than that this is my 6th Jeep and has the Extreme Wheel package that I otherwise very happy with it.

You’re not alone, a lot of 2025–2026 JL/JT owners are seeing this exact behavior. The red compass arrow is a dead giveaway the head unit isn’t getting a GPS lock at startup, which is why TomTom shows your last shutdown location.
It’s almost certainly a software bug, not the antenna or radio hardware, especially since it never fails while driving. The black screen/reboot loop has also been widely reported and Stellantis has dealers sitting on their hands waiting for the Q1 2026 update.
For now the only real workaround is what you’re already doing, full power cycle and hope it initializes correctly. Once the update drops, if it still does it, they’ll finally have grounds to replace the unit. Keep everything documented, you’re doing the right thing.

A bit off topic….but I have a 2026 RAM 5500 Cab & Chassis that has a possessed 12.0 radio.

I, too, have been put off with “make sure your iPhone has the latest software, try a new usb cable, no updates available, no radios available.”
