When I ordered my 2024 dealer stated I could not add on the RV tow harness but they could install it later. This would obviously be much easier from the factory.

Is there a rhyme or reason to this or does anybody know if this has changed recently?

well, they will charge way over $1,000 to add it later. I boughtOEM parts it for my JLRU, and it ended up costing almost $1,000 just in parts like hitch, bolts (they don't come with hitch....) harness. Cant imagine them not charging hundreds to install.

Im speaking about the flat tow RV harness, not the rear hitch electrical. That is all included.

To tow the jeep 4 down, mopar offers a flat tow RV harness to connect to the RV. This is an option but am being told its not available to order.

Two days ago I built a 2dr Willys on the configurator. That was the first time I had seen that offered on it in the last few years.

We are ordering a new 2024 Sport S 2 door to tow behind our RV. I ask what was included in that package and the dealership didn’t know. Is this just the wiring harness or does it include hardware like the baseplate?

It's just the wiring harness for the lights, and a 7 pin tail at the front for connection.

This can also be tapped to get 12v for charging.

Can you ask your dealer and find out if it can be installed and ordered when it's built?

It's on the build sheet in the Mopar section, so it is still an option. I'd say they meant its "not available to order at this time". It's so early in production there are a bunch of folks reporting that certain combinations of options can't be ordered yet. For example, 22R w/ SOT in Anvil. 22R wasn't available to order, 24R was; SOT in anvil not available but SOT in Earl was... which is why I'm now getting a 24R with SOT in Earl. ?‍♂

I was looking at 23s online last year and ordering one and it showed on the configurator but couldn't be ordered with it. Eventually it got removed from the site. Ironically they are on the 24s on the site again. You'd have to check with a dealer that can configure one to order for accurate info, there is always discrepancies.

I never did end up buying one, found a used one now that I like. I'll probably just add an aftermarket option for my flat towing needs.

My salesman and the manager who placed the order are off today, but I did txt my salesperson and asked if it can be added to our order. Hopefully, I’ll have an answer tomorrow. I’ll post an update once I hear back.

My salesman got back to me today, siad the harness would be installed once the vehicle gets delivered. The harness would cost $639.63 and labor would be $1500!

I said thanks, but no thanks! The Blue Ox wireing harness if around $200 and I can't imagine installation would be more than about that also!

I called Jeep Customer Service to ask why the harness could not be installed at the factory, since they will sell it to me? That was a waste of time, they said they couldn't answer my question without looking up my VIN! Well, it was ordered yesterday, I don't have a VIN! So, that was a waste of time...

I called another dealership and got a Manager who did 95% of the specialorders for that dealership. He said sometimes the parts aren't actually available yet, but Jeep puts them on the website anyway. He said the labot is so high because it takes a Master Mechanic about 8 hours to install it! I told him that still didn't make any sense. If they are willing to sell me the harness, then obviously it's available, so why not install it when the rest of the vehicle wiring is run during production when the body is off and everything is accessible. He didn't have an answer...

So, looks like our Jeep order will remain the same, sans the RV Tow Harness and we'll just install an aftermarket harness once it's delivered.

I got a quote from the dealer, $480 install.

Not horrible. I'd rather have oem than the other options.

It still makes no sense why it can't be installed at the factory if the parts are available to sell to the customer upon delivery!

Sure hope they get this option straightened out soon. Would really like to get it installed when they do the original build.

EDIT (6/13) ... just talked to my dealer he says it is still not available to order.
