we Can’t use the “normal” wrap around handles since they would interfere with the side airbags deploying. It also seems that while jeep has plans to produce some, they are not yet available,
being 73 and having just bought a 392, it’s a little bit difficult to hoist myself up to the seat. I have just purchased some side steps, but with my old jeep I was very used to using grab handles above the doors.
So, there are two holes in the frame, outside of the airbag. So I put some 4” eyebolts up through the holes, washers and locking nuts. With the eyes it was easy to use my old grab handles by just running the straps through the eyes.
attached are some pictures for clarification. I used stainless steel so the won’t rust.
I did have to use a die to add a few more turns to the bolt portion, see picture.
I used small stainless washers on the bottom and fender washers on the top. The small amount that the nutted bolt protrudes from the top does not interfere with my removable roof panels.
I’ll have to post the rest of photos again, they are too large to add in one post.
