I have 27K miles and noticed front driver and rear passenger stock shocks leaking. Since still under warranty I will get them replaced by the dealership. I noticed they are presently red (body) in color with the rears having p/n 68546613AB and fronts I could not read. My question is does the color red indicate a trim level (XR) and different than other trims? Should I expect the replacements to also be red in color? If not red are they the wrong part? I also asked that all four shocks be replaced but they will only replace ones that are defective.

The XR and a few other trims have red shocks (mainly Rubicon). The difference with your XR shocks, they are about 1.6” (I could be slightly off) taller.

Thanks! It's at the dealership now. So my replacements should be color red then, correct? What other colors do they come in for the non-Rubicon/XR trim? If when I pick up the jeep and they have put on say black (or any other color) it's right? I'm a little skeptical. They claim the shock replacements were ordered based on my VIN.

Black is the only other shock color. they are for the Sports and Sahara. Willis and Rubicon have Red shocks. FOX shocks do appear on a couple of the specialty packages and with Mopar lifts.

Great news! So if I see red (non-leaking existing) and black I have a problem it appears.

XR shocks will be red and slightly longer than standard Willys or Rubicon. I would personally make sure they replace with the corresponding part number for the XR. The dealerships can be quite incompetent when it comes to warranties. I would also suggest upgrading from these shocks anyways. Metalcloak has great offerings and so do many other brands.

Update: Still waiting on driver front shock. Rear was replaced with the RED color :). I also had them check the cooling system as I have now had to top off the coolant bottle three times since ownership (almost 2 years). They say it had a leaky hose or reservoir. I never could find a leak as nothing ever hit the ground and all other connections seemed good. I guess we'll see.

New Update: New front driver shock replaced with red P/N 68596282AA same as original. Right rear passenger replaced with P/N 68596283AA also red in color. Original rears are P/N 68546613AB. Cannot find these new replacement P/N's on the shock, springs & suspension coil matrix. Is it not updated? Are these new numbers correct? Also, dealership replaced bottom coolant reservoir hose assembly identified as leaking.

I was planning on replacing the shocks once my warranty expires with probably Fox 2.0 IFS series.
