I have a 2020 Wrangler JLU Sport... tires were getting pretty worn (55,000 miles)... while I could squeeze a few more miles out of them, I found a set of 2020 take off wheels from a 2020 JL... (Unsure if it was a Sport, Rubi, or other trim package...) but a 2020 nonetheless. I swapped the wheels, and no TPMS reporting any pressures... are all the 2020 TPMS units "bolt and play" per se... will the system recognize them eventually?? or do I have to wake them up with program tool?? any other thoughts??

A TPMS sensor that works on one 2020 JL will/should work on any 2020 JL. Does not matter what "trim package" or whether a Sahara, Rubi, etc.

You might want to stop by a local tire store and have them scan your JL wheels (the take offs you bought) and see if each indeed has a TPMS sensor. Check all 5 wheels. It is possible that the TPMS sensors on your take offs were removed.

If indeed you have TPMS sensors in those take offs you bought....and again if the wheels came off the same model year (2020) as your JL ..... and assuming all the TPMS's are healthy....

You would want to try the following ...

Make sure the Psi on all 4, on the ground tires are set to exactly what the the door placard recommends. Then go for a ride... Hopefully, all will display after a mile or so.. AFTER all TPMS's are reading you can change the psi on tires.

If that is a no go..... try -->Often the spare tire messes things up so remove the spare, leave it in the garage and with the PSI's all set as per the door placard, go drive for a few minutes. Once all displays properly, put the spare back on the spare holder.

Also try: --> the current thought by most TPMS retailers/vendors, that IF you have one or more sensors not reading on a say a JL/JLU/JT, you deflate all tires to 12# below the recommended tire pressure, driver's side door sticker that tells you recommended tire psi. Now, after they are deflated you drive say a half mile. Now, you inflate to to +- 1# psi, of the recommended psi on the driver's side door sticker and go for a mile drive.. This scenario/routine is suppose to wake up the sensors, so to speak and get them reading...

IF you need to buy TPMS sensors, I highly recommend you buy from https://www.tpmsbargains.com
Fresh stock, non counterfeit TPMS's at a decent price... and their Customer Support/Tech Support is top notch.

The seller may have gone as far as throwing a set of internet knockoffs in them trying to do the semi-right thing, and they'll read but not pair to the Jeep.
I know, painfully well...

Sorry… yes… drove it 3 days back and forth to work…. 12 miles each way…
I’ll try the tips already provided, and hopefully that will work. Maybe go for a bit of a sustained drive 50 miles to see if that makes a difference… hopefully the tool will wake them up and problem solved.

They would be recognized by now then. Did the person you got the takeoffs from tell you they still had the sensors mounted? Most take them out to be used on the new rims they bought.
Also, are you sure they were from the same year? As the 21s I think is the switch year for the different manufacturers of the sensors.

Yep… thats what he told me… that they were still in there…. Now did he know, or remember, or lie?? They were sitting in his garage for 3 years… so I’m going to say he may have misremembered if they are in fact not there. His was reported to be a 2020 vehicle. Worst case scenario, I still have the original sensors that I can swap into the new wheels, or put the new tires onto my original wheels… the deal I got was good enough to pay an extra mounting charge per tire if I have to and still be way ahead!!

UPDATE - took vehicle to tire shop, and no sensors… I still have my original OEM wheels, so they will reuse those sensors. THANKS to everyone who replied!!!
