2018 JLU TAILGATE NOT LOCKING

Found out the yesterday that the tailgate is not locking when we hit lock all doors on the key fob. I can hear/feel it try to lock but it does not lock.

Will this be as simple as teardown and WD-40 or might I be looking at a new mechanism.

I have no idea how long this has been acting up to be honest, just figured it out yesterday that it was giving us problems.

Replace the latch.

I note you are in Indiana. Salt/snow spray? Unless you use the rear gate frequently, it's likely just gunked up. Alternately, if you can hear the solenoid, a rod or clip may have come loose. Disassemble, clean, and lube may be all that's required.
