My wife was driving home from work (10 miles) yesterday and about halfway the power went way down and the check engine light came on. She continued to drive at 35mph and watched the temperature gauge, which stayed normal. I checked fluid levels today and didn’t see anything unusual, so I had it flat towed to the dealer we bought it from about 3 months ago.

It’s at about 85k miles and has been flawless since we got it. No modifications by us, although I have a complete 2 1/2” lift kit I’m planning on putting in 2 weeks. It came with a new set of 35-12.50-20’s installed when we bought it.

Probably won’t hear anything until Monday. We did get an extended warranty through the JDCR, or whatever the acronym is, so hopefully it’s covered.

Dealer called today and said it needs a new transmission. She also asked about the wheels and tires on the Jeep. I told her we bought it 3months ago from the dealership with those exact wheels and tires. She said the dealership purges the photos after 60 days…..I emailed her a picture of the Jeep, on their lot, with all the cars in the background taken at the moment of delivery……she hasn’t called back - lol.

Needs codes to really get a picture of things. 35s on 20s is silly by the way. Doubt it caused your issues, though.

I agree, but it’s the wife’s Jeep, not mine. I wouldn’t have the silly grill and I’d have 17’s….anyway, when it gets back with the new transmission, I have a factory grill and a 2 1/2” lift to go on it. The wheels and tires are all literally brand new. The spare has never been on the ground, as it is still covered in little nubbies….

Anybody know what a new transmission with R&R would cost? I’m wondering how good a deal the extended warranty was.

No way would I have let her buy a 6yo Jeep with 83k miles on it and not have a warranty.

No records at all. Other than the wheels and tires, it’s bone stock, down to the Mopar shocks and ID tags on the springs. The bottom side is spotless, zero rust or damage. The price was average. I checked fluids and looked for leaks, but haven’t seen any issues in the 3 months we’ve had it.

Thank you for the info. With any luck, she will outgrow this Jeep stuff and get something else before it accumulates another 60,000 miles…

We had a bit of a wait, but got the Jeep back yesterday. A rebuilt transmission, new cooler lines and a new cooler were installed. Total cost was $100 + $7 tax= $107

Some of the delay was due to that little storm that blew through town. Some of it was, well, we're talking about a dealership…. The replacement transmission comes with a 3 year/100,000 mile warranty.

So far, so good.
