Good morning Members,
Just a little back ground on myself. I have been into Jeeps starting back in the 70's with a 1974 CJ5, then a 2003 TJ, and currently own, of which we purchased new, a 2013 JKR and now also the 2018 JLR. So we love Jeeps. I am also a Member of the largest Wrangler Forum WF, CURRENTY 407,000 REGISTERED MEMBERS. I became a member over there in 2012, and currently have the highest post count in the Forum, of about 103,500 Post, and the forth highest reaction score. So I was very active for many years over there. I served as one of the head/lead Moderators for going on five (5) years. It was a lot of fun. So why am I hear? It is time in my life to move on and try something new..
Also I have been married for 57 years. How my Wife has put up with me for all of that time, I don't have a clue..LOL Plus we have two Daughters that are high level Executives with large Companies. And three awesome Grandsons. The oldest Grandson will be graduating from U OF A, in about four (4) weeks, and will be Valedictorian of his graduating class in Electrical and Computer Science Engineering. We are really proud of him. Our other two Grandsons, also at the top of the class academic wise, are still in High School.
This is my first thread in this Forum. Our Family's 2018 JLR, we purchase used with only 18,000 miles on it. This JLR looks and run's like new. The records show that the previous owner really took good care of it. First engine oil change at 1,000 miles, and 5,000 thereafter. But when we purchased it, the surprising part was that the steering really was good, even at high speeds, equal to our 2013 JKR. but one hang up. When hitting a bump at low speeds say 30 mph, the steering wheel would shake, about 2" back and forth, and then instantly stop. Not to confuse this with Death Wobble, or tire Balance which I am totally familiar with. So I new that their was steering updates applicable to the JL's. I looked into it and saw that the steering stabilizer had been changed and updated. Just a BANDAID in my opinion..LOL It also had the Computer flash, but not the steering gear upgrade from aluminum to cast Iron. So I took it into our Dealer. They checked it out, and agreed with me, that the play in the steering gear was causing the issue. It took about three (3) weeks to get one from the factory, plus another week for the mounting bolts. When we got it back, no more steering wheel shake, or excessive play in the steering wheel. So now for electronic assist steering, we are real pleased with.
