Just wanted to post up my A/C went out today. Hot air coming out of the vent with max A/C setting on. Was by our local Jeep Dealer. Drove it in and turns out the A/C compressor is shot.

They are ordering a new one and gave me a loner.

I have 2,600 miles on the ODO.

They put me in a new Dodge Challenger for a loaner and I’ve got to say, they should have put the Hemi in our JL’s lol

Sorry for your loss...
Lol at least it was something relatively small.

It’s still in the shop and now it won’t be done until tomorrow.

Thank goodness for the warranty!

I really just posted this for record in case many people start having their compressors go out prematurely. That way we can track if this is by design or just a one off case.

I used my defrost the other day (first time using AC in about two months) and heard a hiss/screeching sounds from the dash, it still blew cold air. Usually this means low refrigerant, did yours make a similar noise before it died?

It might not be the compressor. If there is leak in the system the compressor will not turn on. Hopefully they pressure checked the system or you’ll be back.

It most definitely isn't the compressor making noise, however the noise was caused from it moving refrigerant. It was the first time I've driven it in sub 40F and wasn't sure if it was "normal."
