Alright so I got my 21 rubicon on Saturday and it slipped my mind while I was there to check coolant and power steering fluid. Anyway, randomly felt compelled to check it tonight and saw that both coolant bottles were low (main one not even registering on the dipstick) and power steering was a touch low. Got some compatible OAT coolant and correct steering fluid and topped it off.

This jeeps got 52k on it and had the water pump recall done on it. No signs of coolant leaking anywhere (bottle, tee and pump) and oil looks and smells fine. The jeep was actually running to spec temp wise since Saturday even with the low bottles all things considered. I did some research here but anything else I should look for? It seems fairly common but just wanted to be extra sure. Thanks ya’ll.

Just keep an eye on it. The common leak locations are the T, the bottle, and the water pump area.

Alpha, do you see a mileage window for these three faults--similar to that of the 3.6l head gaskets? Tia.

Much appreciated, means I’m on the right track. May buy a spare coolant tank and T and toss em in the back “just in case” lol. Not sure I’m ready to drop 300 on a mishi one and not sure I 100 percent trust the Amazon aluminum tanks

If you ever smell coolant start checking..The hoses with heat shrink can leak without actually dripping, untill the hole gets big enough at least. If you run your hand over the heat shrink after the jeep has been sitting for awhile you can feel it easier than seeing it leaking. . It probably is on its second coolant tank, im not sure if they improved the newer stock ones or not but my newer one seems to be holding up better than first one.

Top it off and keep checking it. You may have to top it off a few times if there's air in the system. I bought the Mishimoto tank when it first came out, no regrets. It's very well built and the convience of having the sight glass is great. I don't know that I could trust an Amazon tank any more than the factory plastic one.

Thinking there may be some air. Checked the main tank before heading to lunch today and it wasn’t registering on the stick. Filled to min line last night cold and min line again before going to lunch. Temps are always between 180-195 so far which is normal

What’s the best way to burp this system?

I have zero coolant issues, but I ordered the Baja Customs aluminum T part, and Mishomoto coolant tank. Not in a hurry to install them, but I eventually will for sure.

Your temps look real good. Just keep checking it and topping it off. If there aren't any leaks it will eventually stay at the level you fill it to. The I changed my tank it took 4 or 5 fills to get the air out.

10-4. Thanks a ton for the help (and reassurance)! This thing has to be the cleanest 6 year old 50k mile rubicon cause I’ve crawled all over this thing and it’s a cream puff

Curiosity got the best of me and I went and pulled the box off. Sure enough the firewall side is deformed and I’m willing to bet I’m loosing coolant through steam or something. No physical leakage that I can tell. But this is definitely deformed.

Just like many other things, it appears that it's something that some people experience, while others never haver it happen. On the forums or internet, you'll pretty much only see people posting about the problems happening, so there is definitely a bias there, but if it can be prevented, then it's not a bad thing to do it. Since mine was bought used and no warranty on it, I just like to err on the side of caution.

Okay so update.

So I know the tank looked janky but don’t think it was completely failed or even leaking, yet anyway. Filled at 7pm last night. Drove a hour to work today, up to gas station, back home an hour and out to eat and back. Just checked. Still where I left it. May have been air in the system I finally got out.

Still gonna keep the parts I ordered and install them when I get time. But think we good for now!
