Hey All,
My 22 JL Willys 3.6L (non-etorque) was purchased 4/22 and only has 1000 on the odometer (I know, I gotta get out more!). Coming from a 99 TJ, I'm a bit confused on the alternator readout. It's conistently above 14V even after a day on the trickle charger. Most trips are short (less than 5 miles) but even on longer trips, it never goes below 14V. I have nothing non-stock installed (yet) but thought I should get some opinions about the batteries before the cold winter sets in.
Is this normal for these new-fangled contraptions?

Normal and it's in good health.
When pressing the gas pedal, you will see the voltage between 12-13, and when you release the gas pedal, it reads between 13 to 14ish.
Another good indicator of battery health is ESS (Stop/Start). It will only work if batteries are in good health. Otherwise you may see messages like "Battery Charging" etc.

On our etorque 2.0, right before the battery crapped out, was showing high numbers when running (14.5v) too. I figured it was the charging system trying like heck to rejuvenate the battery.

On our non-etorque ecoDiesel, I think the battery is on it's last leg now but it rarely charges that high...

So my theory might have been wrong and I'd be curious to hear what "normal" is myself.

Thanks for the replies. Dealer has a decent service dept. so if it acts up, in it goes. I just kept reading about alt. outputs in the 12 - 13 range and I haven't seen that in months.

FWIW: it doesn't drop when you accelerate. Stays 14.4 or 14.5.
