Mine is a fiberglass replica military trailer kit. I can configure it multiple ways depending on what I need to do with it.

The lid can open with the RTT on top (obviously with no people inside )...

I love the look of the M-416 trailers, but the problem I have is that A) they're super expensive now, and B) they're pretty small (typically 6 x 3.5 floor).
If you're a shorter person, or you build a platform on top like most shown here, that size isn't really an issue. It's certainly more off-road friendly by being a bit more compact.
An alternative is to buy a cheap trailer from Lowe's, Home Deopt, Tractor Supply, etc and customize it yourself. This eliminates a lot of that part A problem of expense, and you can use a standard ball rather than a pintle hitch. A 4x8 trailer runs around $600-$700 (they have 4x6 too if you want a small one). You'll want to do an axle flip conversion. Don't literally flip the axle, do an actual relocation, so you don't mess with camber or capacity. The I bought the kit for $20 and installed it in about 45 minutes. Super easy to do.
From there you can begin to modify it the way you want. Build a camper, cargo hauler, etc. You can build up a pretty good, custom trailer for under $3K. I haven't done it, but you can swap to a heavier axle if you need/want it, and/or add full size tires (you'll need to replace or remove the fenders). You'll have a blank slate to make it unique to your needs, and will cost less.

For something larger than an M416, and affordable, consider a Dinoot j-series (www.dinoot.com). They come in two lengths, here are two.

Both make good tent platforms, this is a "Dinoot Compact":

What RTT did you use on the 416 ? I looked at the Dinoot website, the one they showed was smaller, and "sold out". Thanks in advance..

Its fully insulated, and versatile. I normally just put a cot in there. I added some Molle panels to the door, and my old JK tailgate table to the front wall.

A tad over 5'. I am 5'10" and I can stand in it if I tilt my head a bit.

Started with an Aluma AE46 and built a small lift for it. I used some 1.5" spacers and adapted the hubs to 5x5. I've pulled it from NC to CA so far. Here in a couple weeks I'll be heading to the Colorado Jamboree with it and then bring it and the Jeep back home to NC. It's a great way to haul camping gear and spare parts and such. Small package, super light, and a super easy conversion to match the Jeep. (Paint, 37's w/beadlocks)

This is pretty much exactly what I want to build. Add a roof top tent and a water and electrical system and you'd be good for a week or better.

Even with painting to match, beadlocks, and tires I came in under $6500. I did all the work myself though. Except for paint.

Not too bad I thought, especially for an all aluminum trailer.

I just picked this up last week. It is 1800 pounds. Air conditioner, heat, and vent. TV, stereo, fridge, sink, 20 gallons of water, microwave and grill for the side on a shelf. Queen size bed inside. It has a digital tv antena, WiFI booster, and is solar ready and has two huge deep cycle batteries. Plenty of 12v and 110 outlets that all run off an inverter. Just put a big batwing awning on it and have a quiet generator that will get mounted soon.
