Morning! Captured a pic of some steaming taconite headed your way yesterday morning. It’s weird that it’s still that warm after being loaded into rail cars that it steams. Scary train.

Holds the heat for a long time, same with coke. If not cooled properly by our quench tower, the coke will burn for days on end
Loading hot like that makes it for a pain for the iron making boys at the ground hopper. Cars are frozen solid by the time they get here so they have a couple dozen tiger torches to heat the cars as they come in

So I’m in Toronto for work, and not staying at one of my preferred hotels. I’m here for my second night. Here’s the current run down.

Toilet was running when I checked in. Asked them to fix it. They didn’t. It ran all night.

Of the 4 elevators, 2.5 of them were broken. I was hear with a big group, so that meant 15 minute waits to go up. 1.5 elevators have now been fixed.

There was a fire alarm at 6:15 this morning. Most other people went down. I decided it was likely a malfunction, given everything else, and had my shower instead. (Apparently there was smoke in the stairwell, so I probably should check these things before deciding everything is fine)

Now it’s 72 degrees and my a/c isn’t working.

I’m ready to go home.

Ugh....that sounds craptastic!

The cars are dumped just outside our welfare building. They have a big claw that comes down and grabs the cars to shake the crap out of them lol it’s crazy loud and shakes our building
Can see the structure just to the right of the sucker truck
