I’ve always been one of those, “people are inherently good” types. And it would seem I’m a bit old fashioned - I believe in friendship, loyalty, honesty, and owning your actions.

Just been blindsided by the realization that those values aren’t as common as I thought.

People are inherently self-serving. Friendship, loyalty, honesty, and responsibility are excellent values that deserve to be praised, but sadly, they are now the exception to the rule.

Treat others the way you wish to be treated, but don't expect them to reciprocate, especially if you need to rely on them for something important. Trust people only as far as you can throw them.
