I find myself doing that a lot these days. Probably a combination of my increasing age (and therefore lower tolerance for dipshits), and the fact that customer service isn't what it used to be.

Problem is empowerment. Most companies, for liability reasons, have removed any decision making from the front line employees.

The only thing they care about is making money. Your most important tool is a customer is to walk. Don’t do biz with Costco. Let’s return biz to local non billionaire companies. It’s hard.

Some more tear making news. Words plagiarised and names removed from my mom-in-law’s message. (And tagging @Sean L so he sees on Monday.):

“At the suggestion of his advisor, Nephew had applied for a scholarship given the past two years by a Local family, the dad a retired Marine, who lost their son during training maneuvers over Hawaii (You may remember that two helicopters collided about 4 years ago, killing all involved, about 11. This family's young Marine, whose remains were never found, was a graduate of local High School, and this scholarship is given in his honor/memory. The parents live out of state now, but came back recently to interview the applicants for their scholarship. The entire family made the presentation at the awards ceremony, and, while visiting with the couple after ceremony, they said they liked Nephew immediately and felt he best embodies what their son had stood for.”
