OK, mind blown...
We are on a NC to PA road trip right now. We drove from NC to Quantico VA last night which turned out to be a 5 hour trip due to traffic and to avoid that we took some back roads, normally this trip should take 4 hours. Bear with me here...
We often drive from Apex NC to Waynesville NC which takes 4 hours of drive time. We vary from 50 to 75 mph and we will burn a minimum of 3/4 tank of gas on that trip, usually running down to 1/8 tank left when we get there.
Here we are driving 5 hours varying from 35 to 73 mph and we burned just over 1/2 tank. WTH!!!!! It shows us averaging 20mpg.

HERE'S WHAT I DID. I am a big fan of BG 44K and LiquiMoly Injectron. I like to throw one of them in the tank when we take a trip. I put TWO LiquiMoly cans in a full tank when we left home. Each can covers 17 gallons of gas so in my 20 gallon tank I had enough for 34 gallons. I am dumbfounded that this had that much of an impact. Anyone else ever get results like this?

Please save the snake oil comments for another time. There is plenty of tat out there but these two products have proven track records over decades of use.

I’ll give it a try..
Cool, thanks. This will be interesting since you have the 2.0L. Don't forget to use two cans. They are around $9 at most auto stores but I ordered six cans on amazon for $30 which is a great deal.

Not sure this is worth it from a purely economical standpoint. To go 400 miles, you need 20 gallons of gas if getting 20mpg or about 22.8 gallons of gas if getting 17.5mpg (lifetime avg in my JL). I can buy 2.8 gallons of gas for $7.84 ($2.799/gal). Of course it depends on local gas prices, but anything under $3.74/gal would be cheaper than 2 of the bottles bought for $5/ea.

That's not where I was going with this :) I was simply shocked at the mileage I got when I did this. I didn't do it to gain mileage, I did it to clean the injectors.

Haha, fair enough! At least you get a big chunk of your money back with the increase in fuel efficiency :like:

Trip time length was increased by 25%, but you didn't indicate if the distance traveled was actually any longer. Simply reducing speed to a moderate level is likely to significantly increase fuel efficiency.

I never had much faith in additives until I tried the Lucas injector cleaner. In 3 different vehicles I got 2 mpg better using it according to the cars computers. I've been playing with cars for 30+ years & don't get impressed by much but this stuff works for me. Lucas makes good products.

Yeah I realized after putting this up there that I didn't really do an apples to apples comparison. The next trip from Apex to Waynesville I will run the two cans and since I know exactly what I should burn on that drive I will have a good comparison.

+2 on Lucas
