Decided that since my spare weighed almost 130 pounds and the likelihood that I would I would be able to wrestle it off of the Jeep, by myself, in the event of a flat time around town was virtually zero. And since the included scissor jack can't raise the Jeep high enough with the 2" inch lift kit and 37" tires to change a tire, I would be at the mercy of AAA and/or Uber in the event of a flat anyway. Why not shed some weight. I will hoist the spare into the way back area if I take a road trip or when I go off road, but on a daily basis no need to carry it around.

As a result, off came the spare tire, off came the Mopar hinge reinforcement kit, off came the Rough Country oversize spare relocation bracket, and the Artec license plate kit. Close to 180 pounds of "stuff" (all for sale by the way in the Members Marketplace section of the forum).

The stance of the Jeep changed a bit with the eight removed, the rear sits higher, and man does it accelerate faster too!

I dunno... a jeep without the spare just looks... nekkid... to me. Nice set up though!

Is that the Cool Tech CB mount on the tailgate? That's on my short list.

I have a 40 for a spare, but I’m running 44’s so it’s kinda of pointless. Let me tell you though it was nothing nice getting it up there! If I had a flat I wouldn’t have no where to put my original tire anyway. Guess I’m just screwed.

I know, the change in looks is controversial. Someday, I may add the JCR Offroad bumper mounted spare carrier, but I'm pleased with the looks and the positive change in acceleration for now.

Yes, that is the Cool Tech mount and radio kit, I love it.

As for the spare tire doubters, I get it, but for safety sake, I am adding an ARB Twin compressor, on a MORE bracket in the cargo area and will be carrying a tire plug kit too.

Yup, that's what I thought. But as I posted above, I am adding the ARB Twin compressor, so I won't be completely helpless. Besides, I hoping that it is powerful enough to drive a small impact wrench to spin the lugs off

Looks good! - Changes the back end of it quiet a bit. I think it looks sleek.

Having a impact would dang sure be nice!

Looks like a Renegade. Removing 180 pounds made it a lot faster? Under 6 seconds? I removed the rear seat on my 2 door and was next to a Corvette and beat it off the line. The Corvette was parked but I still beat it.

I don’t know. I just can’t get into seeing a Jeep without the spare. Stats and benefits aside- it just looks right with it on.

But i support my Texas peeps...

I seriously doubt that it was faster and likely my imagination but it sure felt spunkier.

However, it did change the stance. The rear is definitely a bit higher that it was.

I made preparations to change my mind in the future. I purchased both a Mopar backup camera and the brake/camera wiring harness and wired the license plate light with an all weather connector in the tailgate.

If I change my mind, I unbolt this license plate setup and bolt the factory spare mount in an hour or less. I’m keeping the spare holder and camera setup just in case.

So while I have been accused of being crazy, I try not to be stupid. In the past my Corvette's and Porsche's also didn't carry a spare tire, but neither were capable of carrying this stuff that I am going to be mounting in the JLUR.

I’d also look into getting a couple of Colby valve stems for an emergency. Look them up online. They can be installed without breaking down the tire. If you damaged a stem, you could replace it with one of these. You might have tpms bits rattling around, but would work until you could drive to a tire shop.
