I seem to be noticing that none of the dealer ordered JL's in my area are coming with the Safetytec Group, is this generally unpopular? I may have to custom order after all. This is feeling like wanting the optional side airbags on my JK, no dealer in Canada seemed to order them on their units for the lot. Just curious what others were noticing.

I was going to make a post if the safety group was worth or not I'm torn don't want more shit and jacking up cost esp since back up camera standard. But blind spot might be nice though it will have better side views I feel than my current car

Unpopular?

Far from it.

It’s no different than what happened for the past generation one side airbags as I never saw a single one on a dealer lot, only unless it was a special order.

Could not imagine buying 2018 vehicle without it.

If only Jeep made sideview mirrors like Ford does, I wouldn’t need the Blind Spot detection and Safety Group. I’ve gotten spoiled by being able to see everything on my sides without having to really turn around...

And what exactly are you basing the supposed "popularity" of these features on?

The dealer ordered Sahara I test drove last night had it. I didn’t put it on my initial order as I don’t care about the blind spot monitor (owned a few bikes, I’m still used to checking it by turning my head no matter what), but love the rear park assist system, got used to having it on top of the rear view camera as you can look at your mirrors and still hear, instead of being focused on the camera. So I added it cause my wife also wanted the rear park assist plus the cross path detection, and I’m glad I did. And as I test drove it last night, I was glad the blind spot wasn’t beeping but just displaying that orange triangle in the corner.

What does rear park assist and cross paths do? I assume rear park assist just beeps when you get close to shit but seems redundant with back up camera standard

Yes both are safety features, but the backup camera has nothing to do with what the Safety Group.

It’s like saying my car has such good brakes I don’t need ABS...something Toyota did for years when buyers could never find a Tacoma on a dealer lot with optional ABS.

Or, my car has ABS so I don’t need airbags.

- Blind Spot and Cross Path Detection
- ParkSense® Rear Park Assist System
- LED Tail Lamps

Unfortunately, all this should be standard.

Safety group is awesome, blind spot is worth its weight in gold for me, especially with beltway driving.

Just look at the Jeep website.

Blind Spot and Cross Path Detection
The Blind Spot Monitoring System helps you make safer lane changes by alerting you when a vehicle enters your blind spot zone. Sensors scan approximately one lane over on each side. When a sensor detects a vehicle in the blind spot zone, an icon lights up on the corresponding exterior mirror. Rear Cross Path Detection helps you back out of parking spaces when vehicles block your view. When moving in reverse, sensors scan for vehicles and/or objects crossing your path and the system alerts you with a lighted icon in the exterior mirror.

ParkSense Rear Park Assist System
The ParkSense Rear Park Assist system detects objects behind your vehicle when your vehicle is shifted into reverse. It alerts you with a graphic display and also will provide a series of audible warnings as your vehicle gets closer to the object.
