I use Fluid Film. Lanolin based product. Sprayed my last 2 jeeps and trucks before I got them in the salt and they look new underneath.
I use to use fluid film but switched to NHOU oil undercoating The NHOU clings much better and has a pleasant odor I’ve been using oil undercoating for about 15 years and started with fluid film I will say the fluid film makes your vehicle stink really bad for about 3-4 weeks The NHOU has very little odor and works better Goes on just like fluid film NHOU stands for New Hampshire Oil Undercoating

I sprayed a gallon of fluid film on mine last weekend. Messy job, but works great. I have done this to all my vehicles, and it works great. Wears down over time, but leaves a waxy film, which is what you want. Power washing does not remove it, just thins and spreads it out.

This is not a frame or weld related rust issue but I wanted to bump this around and see if anyone is noticing what I consider extreme industrial fallout or rust specs on their JL's? This occurs on most all steel vehicles and I am not usually concerned to see it during the winter to some degree, but it is really significant on my white JLUR (2018) during the first winter of ownership (6200 miles). Of course the white paint makes it more noticeable and a clay bar or wax may alleviate it in the spring but this is really horrendous. And it is in crevices near the fender flares that I will never be able to gain access to without a tear down. Washed bi-weekly, kept in the heated garage nightly, midwest. Pretty pissed off...

Does the wet surface hold any dirt and debris? I’m imagining Vaseline surface. @GreyFox what did you use?

GreyFox,

Can you post some photos of the finished application of the Valugard ? LineX is an excellent brand and I'd be interested in seeing that.....

I was planning to apply (immediately upon delivery) my JLUR with an Eastwood Product like Rust Encapsulator. I have done some moderate research online and one of their products (Rust Encapsulator Platinum) seems to be a great product for prevention... If anyone has any hands-on experience with the Eastwood products, please comment !

It holds onto a little bit of dust but not bad I’ve been using NHOU for 5 years and I used fluid film for about 5 years before that None of my vehicles have had any rust I have the underneath touched up every year in the fall Once you get inside the frame rails and inside the doors you don’t have to go back inside The underneath just gets a little washed off from rain and sand and salt I would rather have a little dust stick to it than have rust If you use a car wash though don’t get the undercarriage wash It will take off some of the NHOU oil Undercoating The longer this stuff is on the more it soaks into the steel I just give it a good rinse in the spring with the garden hose

I live close to the ocean in BC but I’ve only had in 6 weeks. It’s two spots on each side of whats holding the bumper.

That is a weld that wasn’t cleaned well and then painted. See it 100 times. Clean rust spot well and paint over.

From what I can see it looks good. I plan to check out the website still.....Since the undercarriage is a bit dirty/dusty, I can't tell if the coating is more of a paint or a film (oil base product) like Fluid-Film

In my opinion, it's like paint. Not sticky at all after it cures. Warranty for 7 yrs I think. Maybe 5, I'd have to pull out my warranty papers. And yes it's definitely dirty. I was running thru a foot and a half of water last week for fun!
