I noticed the other day, after driving for about an hour, that my 8.4 touchscreen was putting off a lot of heat. It’s actually hot to the touch - not scortching hot, but very warm. How hot is your screen?

Haven’t noticed ours as being hot to the touch! Yesterday the high here was around 55, and I could feel the heat coming from the screen tho.

Not hot at all. Like, not even a little.

I've done several 3+ hour trips to the beach in 90-degree weather down here with the system on during the entire trips and I've felt nothing coming from the touchscreen.

Mine gets hot if I'm using the navigation for a while. So, if the UConnect unit is actually doing some work, it heats up. If I'm leaving it on the Media screen, which is what I have on the display 99% of the time, it doesn't get hot.

That’s a very interesting observation. How much work before it overheats? Does the heat cause any damage to the unit?

That I don't know. Mine hasn't crashed or shut off due to the heat. I can just feel it when touching the screen.

Noticed mine got awful hot this weekend, but I had it in Nav mode quite a bit and didn't even think to try it on a different setting...

I ran mine with the nav for about 1/2 hr today. It started out at ~78 degrees and rose about 30 degrees in that time. I parked for a late lunch and then drove for a while longer. At its warmest, the touch screen was 119 degrees - definitely warm to the touch and much warmer than the ambient temperature of 72. It was not, however, putting out as much heat as the other day when I was driving in city traffic for over an hour. Not sure if this is normal...

I started a thread about this awhile ago in the issues category. There’s others including myself experiencing this. Mine on many occasions got hot to the point it felt like it would burn you. One person posted pictures and his reached around 125 degrees I believe. I brought it to get checked and the dealer and they said it was normal. But they claimed other issues were normal that ended up getting fixed later on. My Uconnect screen still gets hot but it seems to be completely random. Some times there’s no heat coming from it. Weather doesn’t seem to be a factor with mine.

I looked to see if anyone had already posted about this issue, but I must have missed your thread. It doesn’t seem normal to have a screen putting out that much heat... Makes me wonder how long the components will last.

You should have the dealer document your Uconnect heat problem. They probably won’t do anything to fix it but at least it should cover you if anything does break or catches fire. That’s my concern.

Good news I hope. Chrysler has finally agreed to replace the Infotainment System. I hope that this will resolve a lot of the electrical problems I've been dealing with.

I'm also having the overheating of the Uconnect screen issue. Any time I drive an hour or more the screen gets very hot to the touch. The dash around the screen is also very warm. You can actually feel the heat radiating off the screen if you put your hand close to it. This is not when using the navigation. This is whenever the screen is on for a long period of time. This can't be normal. It makes me worried about components wearing out or worse, fire. Any update or resolution from people who have had the same problem? @Seansun01 @Deride , any luck with a fix?
