Tile counter tops were a trend at one time but faded quickly

pretty to look at but terrible to keep clean and maintain

I never did one my self but I ripped up quite a few !!!

I'm not sure if they're still being built in new homes, but they were the builders' choice in new homes in the 80s and 90s, maybe even the 2000s. I think the builders were just trying to save a few bucks on building costs. When I was house shopping a few years ago I walked away from a couple of places just because they had those fuqing counters.
