Well here’s the reason. The propane furnace was necessary. Apparently so was the central air. To add the heat pump option was only slightly more expensive and works as a handy option during the inbetween seasons. (It’s the same unit as the ac. Just spins backwards.)

that heat pump saves you on propane in the fall and spring I'm sure !
