The 2-door is what started it all. It was the genesis of the Wrangler. Anyone else feel the 2-door is treated like a step child? I really wish there were more options, models for the 2-door. I get the markets dictate but come on?

If they're making money on a certain model, they focus on that model...makers are in the business of making money. They're going to definitely focus more on what's selling best. If you want those options the 2-door doesn't have, buy a 4-door. There's really no way to compel the maker to give more focus to 2-doors (other than to collectively buy more 2-doors).

Go back to 2007, when the JK UNLIMITED came out by JEEP--it was HATED, ESPECIALLY BY PREVIOUS JEEP OWNERS--CJ/YJ/TJ-

As we went into 2008 the hate started to diminish and more FAMILY oriented buyers saw an advantage in the 4-dr--

It has become so desired that FCA only produce 4-drs from Nov. 2017 thru May 2018, then they started to catchup with the 2-dr's-

What used to be an ICONIC JEEP (2DR) is now like an UNCONTROLLED STEP CHILD !!!

It's very lonely at the top !

Isn't the only trim not offered in 2 door the Sahara (ok MOAB also, which seems like a Sahara variant). Not really sure what the issue is. You can get 2 door Rubicons or Sports/Sport S. I don't think any options are ignored other than a dual top, or the Sky Top. With some trims you have to add air conditioning, but some of the people buying stripped down 2 doors want stripped down, bare bones Jeeps.

I thought I read 80% of Wranglers sold are 4 doors. I thought the percentage would be even higher.

Looking forward to getting my 2 door in another month or so.

The two door JL Sport S is pretty close to what the two door JK Sahara was in terms of features (AC, power windows, locks, alloys, etc.) except for body colored fenders.

Jeep probably has a lot of market research to substantiate the decision but I’m guessing they determined that having three trims for the two door probably wouldn’t have gained them any more sales so I can understand why there’s no Sahara two door.

i waited almost 4 months for my very basic 2 door rubicon in sting gray. not sure if that's why it took so long, but i also ordered it with LED light group which when i first talked to the salesman, he said LED wasn't available at the time, think it was supply and demand. but i also heard the sting gray was a late colour run here in ontario canada.
but i am so glad i ordered the LED, i would have waited longer just to get them. no regrets.

coming from a couple TJ's, i was never interested in the four door. i do like the look somewhat, with colour matched top and fenders, they look kinda like an xj cherokee, which i have 3 of. love them.

When I ordered my Rubi, i was notified by FCA about a delay in my build. When I called for info, I was told priority was being given to the 4-door models. It wasn’t bad since it turned out to be only about 2 weeks. Booooooooo to the 4-door... booooo...... hissssss

Like asking "why do cell phone companies have limited options for flip phones."

You can't get LEDs, Proximity Entry, Auto Headlamps, 8.4", Sirius services like Guardian unless you order the Rubicon. No Sahara so no Selec-Trac either for the 2-door.

Those options don't look like they are available for a 4 door Sport or Sport S either. So they aren't really "shorting" the 2 door.

When I ordered my 2 door Rubicon I didn’t see any options deleted from the list of choices. Now, as others have pointed out, there are trim levels for specific models that prevent ordering things found on higher priced models, i.e. 8.4” radio, lockers, etc...segmenting vehicle trim levels is just how manufacturers get more customers and make more money doing it.

What is undeniable is the 80/20 sales ratio, 4 door vs. 2 door, so I’m just happy that the 2 door is still available at all.

Only difference between 2 and 4 doors is the dual top option. Part of me wishes it was available, part of me is glad it wasn't because I don't want the seasonal project of swapping/storing tops. Trail Management system (although available) also looked comical in a 2 door, I think it looked like a 6 inch rail management system.

The dual top option is comical. You get box with a soft top in it. Nothing like my TJ that had it installed with my hardtop.

I have the trail Mgt system and with the rear seat up or removed works fine.

Do you think there will ever be a time in the future when the two door will be discontinued?
