4WD only helps you get up to speed and with traction. Once you get up to speed and you need to stop 4WD is no help. SLOW THE HELL DOWN.
I've lived in a snow climate all my life and never been off the road because of exactly that: not over driving the conditions.

I plow the roads for a living 15+ years. I have tons of stories. You would not believe the white cars out driving around in a heavy snow storm without there headlights on. Are you driving around in a hunting blind and you don't want to be seen? You nailed it dumb ass.:angry:

Heck, the number of grey and silver cars (and there are so, so many boring grey and silver cars) driving around at dusk without headlights is terrifying. Very well-camouflaged.

Let's hear everything about it. I'm so glad I went with a Granite Rubi! This is killing me. Not really. Yes really, it is.

Ok, I see several people are asking. Apparently Pollard was chosen as the dealership for the FCA owned vehicles. I don't remember the story on the Red Sport, but the Granite Rubicon was apparently for a Jeep Trainer that has the Wyoming, Utah, Colorado territory and at one time worked at Pollard.

My impression of the Jeep.

It is about as good as I can imagine a manufacture ever being able to combine modern comfort with incredible offroad capability. Seats are incredibly comfortable. Cloth in the sport was nice. Leather in the Rubicon did not seem too vinyl.
Steering wheel in the Rubicon felt fantastic. Perfect size. Perfect leather feel.
I felt the foot room for the driver and passenger where a little narrow. However this is coming from a CJ, TJ, LJ owner. I have never been in a JK so it may be similar to that.
The layout of the center stack was fantastic with the infotainment, locker controls, Aux switches, HVAC. Really don't know why the window controls are in the center. Takes up space that could and should be moved the doors.
Sadly they both had an automatic, but at least the control levers were very nice and felt nice in the hand.
Back seats had plenty of room. I have a 34" inseam and my legs had tons of room. Head room in the back was great. The roll bar was behind the back seat. The front cross bar of the roll bar had a dome light and four individually operated light pointing to the four corners. There was also a light in the rear cross bar.

I really did not like that fact that the leather seat option took away the cup holders on the floor. In looking closely at the console, it seems the cupholder piece from any non-leather version could be swapped in.
The read dash really was out of place. It really seems to be a market choice that just did not fit. The grey version on the sport was much nicer and did not seem to distract from the overall interior feel. I'd expect many people will by the sport version or the Sahara version and swap it out.
The rear cargo area was nice and big. Sadly it seem the tie downs laid out by someone that has never had to strap down gear. They are several inches in from the edge on both sides wasting valuable space.
The fender areas had WAY TOO much plastic. The side with the Sub is 100% plastic. Plus the sub sticks out too far from the plastic shroud meaning it will be hit by anything sliding straight in. Like a fridge or drawer system. I'm guessing someone like Goose Gear will take care of that.

I really wish they would just get rid of the freedom tops. Seems like a lot of complication for very little return. With all the tops they came out with this year, I would have loved to see one with a sold top that allow cutter mounting of racks along the full length of the top.
However, onto the top. It seem much more refined. It had a new diamond textured effect like alternating directional look. It really helped make the top look more finished. This same pattern was also in the rubber pads on the door handle cut outs, center console rubber pad, and on the rubber pad under the e-brake handle.
The lift gate on the back is HUGE. I could see as much out the back of the JL as I do my LJ.

Underneath. The front axle is HUGE. The tube seems bigger. The steering system is MUCH bigger than the JK i compared it too. There is plenty of room for Aux tanks. The frame seemed massive. The nicely wired trailer hookups along with the installed Aux switches make it easy to justify the price.
On the granite the unpainted cowl was not even noticeable. The plastic matched that color very well. On the red it stuck out a terrible econ car cost cutting afterthought.
The non-LED taillights are not that attractive to me. They seem rather cheap. The LED version on the rubicon seemed to match the vehicle and added to the ruggedness of the design. On that note, the treatment of all the hinges and little details really lend themselves to a very rugged Jeep feel to a very modern design.

Overall I'd say jeep did a great job. I will still be waiting for the Truck and the diesel before I will make a final call on what I will ultimately buy.

If you have any specific question, please ask.

I should also add that I think 35s will easily fit with no lift. However, the 33's look great and the the choice of the KO2s was a good one. Instead of lifts, I'm hoping suspension systems come out to handle more weight but offer a near stock ride height.

The painted flares on the granite looked great. I'd probably lean towards unpainted on all the other colors, but on the granite it looked great.

Lastly, the door stops that actually held the door was a welcome addition.

Hmmm...that sticker shows the Alpine Premium System as included in the infotainment Group for $1,495. My build sheet adds an extra $1,295 for the Alpine Premium Sound.
Add up the totals. You were probably not charged the $1295. It has shown up that way, but when you do the math, and include it, you will likely see your sum is $1295 more than the MSRP listed.
