So primarily the Jeep was used for transport and logistial functions rather than assault. While some were equipped with .30 caliber machine guns and recoilless rifles to support infantry maneuvering, the thought of going head to head with a German Tiger tank is just madness... Our own M4 Sherman tanks just didn't have the armor to go up against a Tiger II head to head, so the Jeep would have been toast.Brings to mind an interesting question:
Given the prolific number of Jeeps and tanks zooming (or lumbering) around Europe during the latter half of WWII, there were bound to be some instances where a Jeep had to "take on" a tank, either by evading one or maybe even attacking one (though I doubt it).
Wonder what the all-time record is for Jeeps vs. Tanks?![]()
Hi SeanOkay, so I'm all caught up. I can see Chris needs some history lessons on classic Jeep models...
Tried to find somewhere to wheel after my appointment but I guess the city of Salisbury likes to block everything off with no trespassing signs and gates...![]()
Good morning!Hi Sean![]()
100% agreed. The lack of serious armaments makes the Willys' role as logistical support (rather than combat) quite clear. However, surely the two met at some point...how many of these encounters saw the Jeep successfully escaping? And to clarify, I'm envisioning more of a chance encounter, as opposed to a few crazy army men charging a German tank in a quarter ton transport. So primarily the Jeep was used for transport and logistial functions rather than assault. A Jeep with a recoilless rifle at best, with the element of surprise from a flanking position would get a mobility kill, and then have to get outta dodge before the return fire.
You should be able to log into your account on jeep.com. I also have the app on my phone. I just open that up and it shows me the info on my Jeep.Does anyone know where to find if your vehicle falls under any of the service bulletins? I can't find it on the Jeep Wave site.
One of my favorites:

And you didn't see any of the info that says you are either all clear or have issues?Yep, already looked there.
Did a little research. One of my favorite Generals, Bernard Montgomery made good use of Jeeps to immobilize the German Panzers in North Africa.100% agreed.
