Some of those buildings still standing I could see by the roofing materials and the design of the building that they were built within the last 10 - 15 yrs ago which made them Fla approved for design pressure and Impact ...which is actually pretty impressive

But so many home's that are 30 yrs + old haven't got a chance with storms like these ...there massive and powerful !

It's 7pm as the girls & I walk out of their house in the dark to get in Jezebel for the quick ride to my house. First, baby girl couldn't figure out how to open the door. Different handle. Then, we couldn't figure out how to move the seat up. Doesn't have the quick release Vida does. Next, she couldn't get her lil' butt up hefted up & in. No handy dandy grab handle that she's used to in Vida. I boosted her into the back & muscled the seat back into position for the eldest. I mention that it still has a little bit of that new car smell. Little one says, "it smells like dog poop! Like dog diarrhea!" Big sister laughs about little sister thinking those two things smell the same. Halfway home, 90 seconds after getting in, eldest & I are talking about how different the dash is. Baby girl is saying some parts smell like new car, some parts smell like dog poop. She's wiggling around all over the back. We get home & I go around to help with the seat again. Baby girl is still talking about the smell. She gets out & what's spread all over the back of the black interior loaner Jeep? Bright wet dog poop from her shoe.

That was my concern. Old Fl...pre-Andrew building codes. Those buildings were demolished just like Andrew. There was a reporter speaking of how he was in my area for Irma (which was an angry bitch) but our structures held because of the strict building codes...he had the same concern about the Panhandle. One thing is for sure, they’ll have those building codes now.

I do apologies for posting horrific events like this but These storms we have just hit me deep in the gut !!...I've been through a couple and I've been there after and volunteered .

There are people that live in the panhandle that don't have a clue to what just happened , There numb from Trauma but in the next day or two Reality will awake in them and they will realize they have lost everything they own and have nowhere to go !

I do apologies for posting horrific events like this but These storms we have just hit me deep in the gut !!...I've been through a couple and I've been there after and volunteered .

There are people that live in the panhandle that don't have a clue to what just happened , There numb from Trauma but in the next day or two Reality will awake in them and they will realize they have lost everything they own and have nowhere to go !

Yup. I was mad at first, buuuuut baby wipes work wonders & I would’ve been straight up angry & pissed if it happened in Vida. Perspective! This thing gets returned tomorrow! Baby girl was so upset she was crying, so that toned things down, too. I’ve still been asking her if she smells poop though.

It's Government law now for all Fla building codes .

No need to apologize Dan, it’s a horrible thing to go through and even though you’re not affected, you feel for your fellow Floridians. I’ve been through a category 2 storm on the gulf coast, and that was traumatic enough. I can’t image what these people are going through.

I may joke about Cat 2's but those can be just as epic !
