I think it’s important to see all the good for your country, and also recognize where is falls desperately short.

Canada: Im proud of our social safety net. I’m proud of our recognition of the rights of the LGBT community, and of our recognition that immigration improves us as a country. But we are an international embarrassment when it comes to our treatment of our native people, particularly on northern reserves. And we all need to get on board and do the hard work to meet the Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation commission.

That’s where I differ. I have issues with my feet & knees that very much limit what shoes I can wear. As a firm believer that shoes make the outfit, it’s really quite sad.

I have to confess though , I am bit of a clotheshorse and own about 10 pair of shoes along with many jeans and slacks and a shit ton of button down causal's !

However I have seen some " female " closets !!!

How was everyone’s day?! Just got home & settled after my 14 hour day! Another local judge is resigning & my judge has offered to pinch hit for a few months. He wants me to tag along every week to train the current clerk & get them updated with forms, tech, procedures, etc. Why the hell not!? I’ll spend a couple hours a week getting paid to watch someone do what I tell them to do.

Somebody catch me up on today so I don’t have pages upon pages to sort through!

Gotta admit, I don't really know their stuff, but I heard "How You Remind Me" the other day and it seems like an OK song.

It’s true. Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau (JT’s father, and if you remember your Canadian history lesson from a few weeks ago, the PM who repatriated the constitution), said of the US:

Living next to you is in some ways like sleeping with an elephant. No matter how friendly and even-tempered is the beast, if I can call it that, one is affected by every twitch and grunt.

I think it’s safe to say that most Canadians adore many aspects of the states. We love the assorted number of Americans we are friends with. We enjoy the trade relationship between our countries. We consume American media.

But there’s a frustration too. Canada can get lost in the discussion - and not just with our American counterparts. We can lose ourselves with ourselves. Our debates, etc can end up mirroring yours because we consume too much American news. People can get riled up about our justice system, our gun laws, etc etc without actually thinking about how that issue relates to our country. We have people who think they vote for our Prime Minister, because they don’t understand the difference between our system of government and yours.

And to be clear, that’s OUR issue, not yours. We need to do a better job of listening for each other, even when the elephant is snoring.

I’d like to add that Canada is gorgeous and its people are genuinely nice.
