So, the unthinkable happened this weekend. I drank so little coffee that I gave myself a caffeine withdrawal headache....ugh awful!
Will have to look into that. Looking into tris and may use my MTB for a sprint first before buying another bike. I was thinking road bike of some sort to get something on the other end of the spectrum from that (Specialized 29/Rockhopper), but I could look at CXs too.Cyclo Cross is an off road discipline, but we ride on road and gravel too. Last weekend was insanely muddy, and we had to navigate seriously slippery side hills, as well as tight turns in slick grass and muddy uphills and downhills. Mountain bikes are typically too heavy and clunky for CX, but there are plenty of them out there. If you're looking for a bike to add with your mtn bike, the CX bikes are great, since you're not limited to paved roads. My bike is an Ibis Hakka MX. Once I built it, I haven't ridden my road bike AT ALL. I even do road century rides on my Hakka.
The big smile on your face?![]()

Tri is another animal. If that's your goal, find a nice road bike. Will have to look into that. Looking into tris and may use my MTB for a sprint first before buying another bike. Nice, I haven't found a solid source for jeep-able fire roads, but there are a lot in the Mark Twain National Forests. Problem is it's hard to tell if they would be at least a little interesting in the jeep, if they connect through, etc!Hey Matt, I saw that someone local was doing a Off-Roading 101 this weekend but I will be 2-wheeling it so will have to miss out. We really enjoyed hitting the forest roads in AR this weekend and will be doing it again here in MO sometime soon. I will try to put something together in the next few weeks as I get time to do it. I doubt it will be a park like St. Joe or Midnight but who knows. :D
OWO! The thing is...other people are at home when I’m gone...I went through 2 months of a 125lb dog trying to break out of the house.
Window treatments ripped off
Door lock sets mangled by his teeth
2 crates broken out off
There's more!!
First I need to learn to swim more than splashing around at the pool, lol! But it's on the calendar for next season so I'll be practicing this winter.Tri is another animal. If that's your goal, find a nice road bike.

Same here! I can barely swim to save my life!First I need to learn to swim more than splashing around at the pool, lol! But it's on the calendar for next season so I'll be practicing this winter.
I know what you mean. Last year, Monica and I went out in Mark Twain and found a road to no where. LOL. Funny thing is, the map showed it went through...through a large mud puddle...and another puddle...and I think another puddle...and I think it really did...but...we were out alone and don't have a winch or come-along and was out of cell service...so chickened out and done a u-turn in the woods. LOL Chances are, most of the roads I would take in my new one wouldn't put a tax on the Rubicon's abilities but it is still fun to get out and get a little dirty! Gravel, packed dirt, weeds, and water crossings, it is all good. Don't need deep thick mud or rock crawling to get off. LOLNice, I haven't found a solid source for jeep-able fire roads, but there are a lot in the Mark Twain National Forests. Of course Chris is neither... Although he could have fooled me on the drive back to NYC!He's a maniac, and Alex is an enabler...![]()
That helps a lot !!!OWO! The thing is...other people are at home when I’m gone...
