I have gotten the password for the order tracking but dont see my order. It says at the top to see sheet two if you dont see your Jeep. I dont see where sheet two is. Where can I find sheet two? My dealer also told me that the factory has picked up my order and he thinks they will start building it within a week. Thanks Mark

According to my dealer, mine would have been built a week ago. I still think that 90 day hold is the reality and that January 17, these things will start getting shipped to dealerships.

Does anyone have updated intel on the soft top and manual transmission start dates? As of early last week I was told by a credible source that the manuals were “way out”. A week before that another credible source confirmed that all of the JL’s sitting in the parking lot at TNAP are hardtops. Of course I ordered both of these options.

Mine is a manual with dual tops. My dealer spoke to a Chrysler rep who said mine was to hit the assembly line last week. It now shows a shippig date of January 5. I don't buy that shipping date, but I think it is reasonable to expect my Jeep by the end of January. I'll call FCA Tuesday and will see if they can give me any new info. If the manual was going to be way out, they would have called it late availability, unless they've uncovered an issue. I doubt that, though.

Both of which options, the auto/hard top, or soft top/manual?

My name was placed on this build, Thursday 12/20. I was told that should bump the Build Priority from 99 to 1 and speed things up.... My invoice shows D1, but it's a couple weeks old.

So how exactly do you track progress? Someone please simplify, I'm simple....

I ordered dual tops and a manual transmission. I know for a fact they had only ran ~5 manual transmissions (trial builds) as of 12/15/17. Since this is a new transmission, i’m sure they are thoroughly testing them right now before they put them into production. Based on what I know, I suspect they will start building the manual transmissions early/mid January. I have no intel on the soft tops other than there wasn’t a single one at TNAP as of 12/15/17.

On this computer, at the bottom of the Excell spreadsheet there are 3 tabs, the one you’re looking at, then the middle one is the one you’re looking for, then the third tab shows orders already built and delivery details. Hope this helps.

They've been testing them for at least the last year. Plenty of test mules were sighted with them. If they are still testing, then they are having problems. Aisin has a very good rep, so I'd be surprised if they have some big problem. On the other hand, I know they build in batches, so I expected they wouldn't be in the earliest production. If they were not already in production at Aisin, they would not have been made available for order yet, and would have been set for a later date, just like the 2.0 engine. The first production manual transmissions would have been manufactured at least a month ago, and probably before that.

Lots of unidentified sources out there, and consequently, lots of misinformation. My dealer got the info on my Jeep's production from a regional FCA rep, who happens to be driving around in a JL. FCA's rep at the call center also told me mine was scheduled for production a week ago. That's two FCA sources. I'll go with those sources until I hear a better one.

The JK manual was done like this in the beginning. The manual transmissions were not in the first production batch. Then, demand backed them up. My JK was ordered in February of 07 as an 07 model, and it showed up at the dealership in September of 07 as an 08 model. (Corrected. I had mistakenly said September of 08) It wasn't because of problems, but rather demand outstripping supply. I ordered very early on this one to avoid that same situation, if it were to occur. I'm not sure it will, though, as the 8 speed is a highly desired tranny, and appeared to be more so than the old 4 speed in the JK.

Update: Saw this from Four Wheeler...."However, we did note that the clutch on our preproduction Jeep felt artificial and difficult to modulate the friction zone. Jeep engineers tell us that there is a fix for that coming to production builds, so we didn’t put too much weight behind it."

That may cause a delay, but that isn't the transmission, that's the clutch, and there are many parts and there is adjustability in it. I could see a part change or spec change in adjustability, and maybe they are testing that to validate it for production. That may be what your source, if an employee at the factory, may be hearing about. We shall see.

Thanks you I have found me on sheet two :). It does not show up at the bottom when I first open the spreadsheet I had to find it, now to remember how I did it :) Mark
