If the One-Touch top was free, would you want it or no? POLL

Would you order a One-touch equipped JL if it was free?

No. A Jeep with hard or soft top removed looks like a Jeep with no top. The one touch thing looks like a Jeep that is missing pieces when everything removed.

My opinion.
Most soft tops look like either a crushed roof or a ill fitted dress.
Lets not even talk about plastic windows.....

My opinion.

Uh...what happens when you become a senior citizen one day and for some strange reason you still like Jeeps?
You (I) accept the disadvantages as the price you (I) pay for the convenience and sudden weather change advantages. Knowing you (I) would rarely, and never for a day trip deal with taking off and putting back on a hardtop and no longer want just a soft top. …..

now get off my lawn.

I think it's aimed at the senior citizen community. This along with the automatic running board are hilarious to me. All of this stops just short of a chair lift to help you get in and out of the Jeep. If it that much trouble for you to let your top down, or to get into your Jeep, then a Jeep isn't for you. Try the Buick dealership down the street.
May you reap what you have sown.

No, I dont like soft top either but when its down, it doesn't look weird, compared to the one touch top.

My opinion.

I love the idea and convenience of it, but I am sooooo not buying the idea that Stellantis could make a reliable retracting top that still works and has available replacement parts 10-15 years down the road.

I'd definitely loved to be proven wrong!
If it becomes unrepairable for a reasonable amount down the road, it can always be replaced with a cheap soft or hard top, or maybe another SOT from the junk yard.

The SOT is nice during the winter, especially when there was a heavy snow fall, heated steering and seats, crank up the heat also.

I'll hopefully have the good sense to not expect Stellantis, et alia to bend to my will and water down my vehicle of choice with expensive amenities that dilute its very being.

That ship sailed 50 years ago, the Jeep that GI's used didn't have AC, power steering or radios...
We're talking a foldable top here.... 😁

I know, Wb, but incrementalism never sleeps. ;)
If we we all real men we would have a stable in the yard and horses to feed...

I keep my hard-top on all the time so maybe. I hear that it is quite a few decibels louder than having a hardtop so in that case...100% no.

So how many years till you are the proud owner of a Buick?

Fun ones!
If I had a four door I’d likely opt for the SOT. While it doesn’t look great doorless, the convenience is nice especially if you live in the Midwest where 30 degree temp swings in one day are normal. If I lived in socal, I wouldn’t even have a top! I don’t think my two door with the soft top folded back looks that appealing either. On top of that you can’t see sh!t behind you. And I’m way more fit than the average person (for those that think there is a direct correlation between fitness level and Jeep top choice). It merely comes down to convenience so I understand why one would choose the SOT.

Or much else, for $748.74 , 80 years ago, or now $13,272.75 inflation adjusted. 😁

I don't like that the rear window doesn't come out. And as much as I like the removable side windows, the SOT frame just looks weird to me once it's opened up fully.
I really love taking the hard top off and how the Jeep just feels more nimble without it, and the openness of it all.
