Man the limitations of a photo bomb here. For anybody on the fence of a Windrock Jamboree, it was an absolute blast. Well guided and great friends made. We were part of the orange group which was one of the advanced groups. My only gripe was our pace didn’t allow for many photo ops, but that pace also meant we hit more of the best trails Windrock can provide. If you can, absolutely head there.

in my experience, Windsock is the best wheeling east of the Mississippi River. Great pics. While I am not a fan of Jamboree type events. I have been wheeling at Windsock since about 2002. I just can't justify the cost of the Jamboree. If I was to do one, I think I would do the Rubicon Trail. While I have ran the Rubicon Trail, I think the party at the end and the overnight socializing would be huge fun.

True, there is a bit of added cost that may seem unnecessary. But they feed you a decent dinner twice (we had a family of 4), the local trail guides kept me from body damage a few times with line choice (especially on trail 3? and that v notch), and I guarantee I’d need another day to do the same trails just from being unfamiliar with the maze of trails and huge size of the park. That added cost was really worth it in the end for us. Plus, not many times I’d make friends from Florida, Michigan, NC, and TN in the same weekend. And I agree, that Rubicon Jamboree is a different animal, and looks like a blast.

I think that the Jamborees are excellent for the majority of people and the cost is not that bad when compared to other types of activities that can be multiple day types of excursions.

A good spotter is worth their weight in gold. They can save you from minor damage to totaled out Jeep and injuries. o I understand the value in going with the the Jeep Jamborees. They also give you an opportunity to meet others from all over. I just pass on them because I usually have more than enough fine people to wheel with. I tend to lead group rides often and almost always do the majoirty of the spotting for the groups I am with.

Nest time when wheeling at Windrock. take the kids through the prison tour just out past the end of trail #26. Did you get out to Panther Rock or out to Caryville Flats? There is a lot to do at Windrock. You can spend months there.
