have you check the privacy setting yet? i was having issues until i figured out about the darn privacy setting
I haven't changed any settings and it always worked fine before. Are you talking about being on a sub channel? I've never messed with those at all.

I got the new mic from Midland and I think it's working ok. I'll test it out on Saturday and that will help determine if it was the mic or something else.

yes the sub channel setting is the privacy channel so to speak. used it on my Sedona trip damn it cut the static and extra jabber down 98%

Yeah the extra chatter is always annoying and we always have to change channels 3 times during the day. Whatever channel we were using for Backway to Crown King kept giving us weather and time updates every hour lol.

Can most GMRS handhelds do privacy channels as well? I feel like we never do it on runs because some of the handhelds people have don't have that function.

my brothers cheapy walmart radios actually did have the privacy channels i was impressed. I also know that the bao fengs do as well but i could never remember where the setting was LOL

Well I can set the privacy code very easily on my Motorola handhelds but I can't figure out if I want the CTCSS or DCS privacy code setting on the Midland.

I read that midland radios have a female setting, where it cuts out everything a female says for “total bliss and relaxation”. Try switching to the male setting. :beer:

I think that is the "TX Limit".
