YOu got a JL and upgrading the V6 with a SC is NOT cheap, engine swap, Not cheaper, Stroker, Not Cheap at all.I was looking at the v8 5.7 swap, or supercharger, or a stroker kit for my 2 door jl. what is the best option when looking at price, reliability, and longevity?
Okay thank you so much! Will definitely take this into account.YOu got a JL and upgrading the V6 with a SC is NOT cheap, engine swap, Not cheaper, Stroker, Not Cheap at all.
But there is a way to get more power and do it on the cheap vs the above.
4:88 gears work wonders.
The problem with the 3.6 is its NOT a Straight 6 TJ style. That engine gets about 70% of its torque by 15 rpm. The V6 does not see that until it gets high up in the RPM band. So to get where Torque/HP are in the 3.6 you need to go where its at, North of 3000 rpm. Get there with 4:88s or if you are running 37s then jump to 5:13s.
I run 4:88s in my 2024 JLR-X and LOVE them. Love being the Red Light Bandit down here in the worst drivers in America Florida (YES, FL has the highest Auto insurance rates in the US) why? These folks here cannot drive at all and I have driven in all 50 states and in 97 of the largest cities in the US., FL takes the cake for bad drivers...
Then you'd want the Demon SRT 170 engine.Hellcat swap, go big!
re gear and get a livernois tune, that will really wake this engine up. its a high compression v6 that was neutered from the factory to run 87 octane. Because its a high compression, these dont last that long running boost.Way out of my budget???. I’m more around the 7000-8000$ mark
I'll be doing a lift kit and 35s maybe 37s but 4:88 gears would make my 2dr Rubicon 3.6 a beast! I'm just concerned about highway speed on 35s with the 4:88s what's your experience?YOu got a JL and upgrading the V6 with a SC is NOT cheap, engine swap, Not cheaper, Stroker, Not Cheap at all.

Just did a 101 mi trip this past week. Of the 101 mi about 10 were city streets, the rest was on I 75, light traffic and I was getting 16.6 at 65 mph on cruise control.I'll be doing a lift kit and 35s maybe 37s but 4:88 gears would make my 2dr Rubicon 3.6 a beast! Due to the high rpm of the V6 up in the 5XXX range and more, I can hit 90 mph in a heartbeat. I don't that fast but sometimes need to pass at as the white knuckle driver is going to slow and I can hit 85-90 in a few seconds.
YES, 4:88s and 35 in a SWB Jeep is a lot of fund and I think its after since I have more options of speed to avoid accidents here in FL!
The pickup from a red light is WOW!
I have been running 4:88s on TJs and JKs and JLs, both my 2023 & 2024 JLR have had 4:88s...
