Hi all -
Bought my Jeep on 6/21/2022 and have been having a lot of fun with it so far.
Ordered in Feb 2022 and waited 4 months or so - here it is sitting on the lot:
First mods were bumper, winch, and rock rails:
Hit a few trails in the meantime (with a Moab trip thrown in there). I have to tell you this thing does great stock:
If it weren't for Holcomb Creek in Big Bear, I probably would have been fine with the rig as-is but after having to winch in a few spots, slipping on the rocks, and dragging my belly all over the place I started hearing a voice in my head say "lower pressures" and "more lift".
Ended up converting my "beadlock ready" wheels to true beadlocks. Also added 37s (Mickey Thompson Baja Boss ATs), split my fenders, and added liners:
This by itself added 8" clearance in the front wheel well:
But, of course this was all in preparation for adding a lift. I ended up going with the MetalCloak 3.5" Lock-n-Load with 6pak shocks. The long-arm kit is a lot more involved on an installation so if you're doing it yourself, leave lots of time (took me 2 weekends).
Box of goodies, and unpacked:
During installation. You need to cut off the front control arm brackets. No going back now!
After installation, I have about 11" of space in the wheel well. I was so tired at this point I couldn't even hold the tape measure straight:
Overall, rides smooth on the road so far but can't wait to get it on the trails. Will probably hit Truckhaven 4x4 training area first to put it through its paces. Just need to get an alignment then measure for a new front driveshaft after caster is set.
I'd like to say I'm done for a while but I know myself too well!
