Quoting the ridiculous article, I thought I made my sarcasm clear, but I failed to convey that in text. Jeeps are already designed to go larger the stock rubicon; the author of the article that OP posted is crazy.
I enjoy your sarcasm. It was not missed or waisted on me.

This is why I run RCV joints on chroalloy shafts, teraflex ball joints and Reid knuckles. Even so, I’m surprised how easily that broke.

I wouldn’t say the driver was overly aggressive, just the axle was under-built for that tire/wheel combo and he found it’s limitation.
I know I’ve certainly driven past Jeeps harder than that without a single failure to the front axle.

Eh, nothing new to report here. People ALWAYS flip, break, or slide into the wall here. Cost of doing business. Whenever I am in Moab and I get to a spot where there are spectators recording....that is an FBI clue that stupid tax is being collected there.

Everyone's making fun of him, but what exactly did the guy do wrong?

I'm a total newbie, so excuse my ignorance. :)
Started with believing everything he read online about how JL/JT axles could handle 40” tires

I don't see much flex in his tires, so possibly he didn't air down enough. Then he gassed it like crazy and got everything spinning, on that obstacle with aired down tires you can just low range crawl it. And the line on the left side is easier, he took the bumpy route to the right. I'm not sure how much experience rock crawling he has, I've seen some epic breakage when you get someone with a lot of mud bogging experience on slickrock.

He used power when finesse was required. This is a recipe to break stuff.

If you use finesse where power is required, it may not work but you usually don’t cause any harm and you get a do-over and try it using power.

Bouncing wheels while in 4WD under throttle breaks parts when the wheels land and catch traction.

I was driving in when Trail Mater was driving out and said guy behind him was disabled. Not sure how long the repair took to get it drive able. He was on 39’s and drove out in 2 wheel drive, so kudos to that. When I got off the trail it was parked in the lot, 2 guys rolled up in a side by side and said that was his third try and showed me and my buddies a video taken from the back. Probably not his best decision that day, saw the JT on a trailer leaving the condo I stayed at. Wish I could have chatted with him about his day.

Last time I was there the tub looked like someone did an oil change at the bottom, just nasty oily water mix.
I got to say though its cheap entertainment to watch that obstacle
I wonder if they towed it down that steep ass hill right there or took the longer way. Cuz that hill is nothing to laugh at, can't imagine towing down that.

I blame it on the cooler in the back or what was in the cooler!

What’s so hard about towing down a steep hill? Just give it a good push, he’ll make it down ?
