That just sucks Chris.
That it does, OB, that it does. Current strategy is to just keep it manageable; there really isn't an incentive to pay it off other than to get rid of the monthly payment. There's nothing they can foreclose on or repossess, you know? Almost anything I do with that money is more useful than paying off the debt. So long as I don't default, there's no need to zero them out any time soon. I already have top tier credit. Instead, I'm going to focus on saving money for a house, retirement (who am I kidding?), and Jeep parts.

I was trying to post this earlier:

Good morning court. Still checking in but I’m deep graduation prep for this weekend. Yesterday one of the students managed to erase all of the IP Addresses in our Mobile Production Monolith aka the Brains of the entire production in the process of trying to get a “split screen” to work because that’s how the old teacher would always do graduations.

I made him and his buddy that were so focused on getting it to work (and now broke) call Ross Tech Support. Well after an hour on the phone with life saver “Jake” he reset the whole system and was also able to get the double box to work in the process.

They both learned a lesson and honestly probably way more than if they hadn’t have broken it, but all I’m sayin is that nobody is gonna appreciate the level of production quality we’re bringing this weekend cause it has been an emotional roller coaster.

Well this student debt crisis makes more sense to me now. I had always equated student loans to something like an Auto loan and that you'd be done with them in a few years...

My great-greats came over on the boat. Missed all that Civil War foolishness.
Good thing they missed it, because I know a guy that said his Irish ancestors were drafted into the Union Army almost straight off the boat.

The biggest issue is the interest rates - they're super high for the amount because there is no collateral. Add on the fact that they (usually, except for subsidized loans) start accruing interest from inception without any payments for 4-5 years, and they quickly become monsters.

Imagine buying a fully loaded JLUR right out of college and financing it with zero down payment. Now, double (or triple) the interest rate, and make it so you can't discharge the loan via bankruptcy. It's a shit deal.

What sticks in my craw the most is that my loans are through the Fed. With inflation at 2.5% (ish), they're making a 5% profit off of my debt. This is in addition to the taxes I pay every year. It just strikes me as morally wrong. Then again, I'm a bit biased.

Not to side track the current discussion...but today I called Jeep (don't care) Customer Care (877 number) and Jeep (Non-)Information Center (866 number) and got NOTHING...NOWHERE...couldn't even talk to my Brand Mentor because Jeff and Nicole don't take phone calls...only emails...so, i wrote an email...
Jeff,
I am sorry but a "soon" answer is not going to cut it considering I have been waiting 15 weeks since I placed my order for any information about my build. I understand delays, and problems in the manufacturing process, but I cannot understand why my JL hasn't been scheduled to be built yet. Certainly Jeep has a projected forecast for production...right? And my VIN should be somewhere on that schedule...right? I realize that you have to build 2-door JLs with Premium Soft Tops that were ordered before mine before mine is built but those have been in production for 2 weeks now...right? 2-door Premium Soft Tops are being delivered to customers already! How many 2-door JLs with Premium Soft Tops have been ordered before mine?
What I really don't understand is how a 2-door Rubicon with Auto, Premium Soft Top, Safety, Info Package, LED, Tow, and Proximity (this is similar to my JL) was ordered on 5/8 could have gone to D1 status on 6-5...and I am still sitting in D status for the last 105 days. I also know that a 2-door with Premium Soft Top that was ordered 2-20 went to D1 on 6/5...that is just a day before mine was ordered. What do I have to do to get my JL? Cancel my original order and place a new order?? What kind of wait time would I see from that order???
Jeff, please understand that I am beyond frustrated with this whole process. If the JL didn't hold my desires, I would walk away from this order in a heart beat. I should not have to wait this long to get a mass-produced vehicle. If I didn't know any better, I would say that Jeep didn't have any experience in building vehicles and this is their first go at it. it was my understanding that the JL was under development and testing for 4 years prior to releasing it. Wasn't production testing included in that?
Please provide me with a build date so I have at least a little hope that my JL will be built sometime before the end of the model year...which is QUICKLY approaching...
Thanks,
Joe[\QUOTE]

This Jeep thing is truly occupying too much of my life...it is monopolizing too much brain time...affecting work and personal time. A moment doesn't go by that I don't think about this damn situation and puzzle over the stupidity of it. To those that have waited longer...I congratulate you now...with me sitting at 105 days from order...and with the way things are looking...unless I can cause a big enough fuss to get mine built anytime soon, I will be in the 160+ realm before I get my JL...Hell...it may be then even if i cause a fuss...

I have asked myself MANY times over the last couple of months...why do I want this vehicle so damn bad? And while I cannot answer that questions, all I know is that I do. It isn't a status symbol thing, it isn't a rough tough man thing (hell...I have ridden my motorcycle over 175,000 miles in 12 years...if that isn't tough...wtf is?? LOL), but it is the only vehicle that I want...the only one that I can see myself driving for a really long time. It is equipped with everything that I want and not much of what I don't want. I know it will take me anywhere I point it to without batting an eye (granted I don't get a lemon..HAHA). It is the perfect vehicle for me...at this point in my life...or at least I obviously think so or I would still be sitting here waiting on any information on when I can possibly expect to put my hands on my JL (subject to change...of course).

Sorry to waste your time on this but I have to tell it to someone...and a sympathetic ear (well...eye) is better than an un-sympathetic one any day...

Sounds like going the Military route was beneficial to me, but now I'm trying to figure out how I can use my GI bill now that I'm supporting my wife and need a full time job to do it. It was the same while I was still in and my Sergeant Major kept telling us the best way to career advancement was to complete college. He also expected us to put forth 10-12 hours a day at work, so night classes would have just driven me insane at that point... Didn't understand when Marines complained about failing marriages too.

If that's the case, I have several reactions:

1) Damn, he's a LATE 90s baby:cwl:
2) Guy must be doing well, going for a Sahara at age 23 :like:
3) What the hell am I doing wrong in my life if someone 8 years my junior can afford a $50k Jeep?! :headbang:
1) ‘95
2-3) Went to community college to get basics out of the way at a much cheaper price and then I went up to UNT for still a fairly cheap tuition.
Never had a girlfriend although have gone on many dates and have several girl friends. Still living at home (my parents are truly the best. No drama and pretty relaxed).
Plus working at NBC5 DFW and for the Cowboys for a year didn’t hurt at all ;)

Now I just gotta start saving up for a house cause I rather be putting money into a building/land that’ll appreciate and not just a property that’ll take my money monthly to be “not living at home with my parents”.

PS I got a fairly loaded Sahara right under 45k :like: Exactly what I wanted.
