I’ll second the concern for fires. Moved here in Sept 2020 in Fort Collins and I remember the days of apocalypse skies from Camron Peak and the other fires. It was a scene like I’ve never experienced. Sky looked very cool but was sad about all the homes and forest destroyed. 2020 was a brutal year, something like 700k acres. Im no fire expert but I’m afraid for this year too. Denver went the longest it’s ever gone without measurable snow accumulation. It’s been a sad dry winter. Smart guys are going to go camping and make irresponsible camp fires or throw their cigarettes out the window (this one pisses me off, I want to pick them up and throw them back IN their cars). Hopefully we get dumped on. Our water prices are going up 20% this year we just got notice.

Yeah snowpack is still over 100% and we are coming up on the heaviest snowfall months of the year. So hopefully we will see less fires in ‘22 like we did in ‘21. This last year we still had the mountains obscured and smoke, but that was from all the CA, UT (or Oregon can’t recall) and fires in Canada coming into the Rockies.

For future references, you can download the "campendium" App and find all kinds of campgrounds, resorts, parks and Boondocking sites for RV's. The app gives you a ton of info on each location and it includes up to date reviews. As for Colorado trails, "Funtreks" puts out a trail book for Colorado just like the one for Moab.

Thanks! I have both of these as resources. I have stops booked except Breckenridge who starts reserves next month. Somewhere along the way I hope to meet up with some of u folks out there. I will only be with a person who has been here before when we do the trails around Quray. Based on tight bookings I can't see meeting folks as a problem.

Staying in Montrose, Buena Vista, Breckenridge(hope).

All you range people…. Pretty much the entire snow pack in CO is above average. Dipped in the last week or so. -30 here this morning.

Like I said… you can’t categorize the whole range in broad strokes. I agree January helped out a tone, but its still not great right now.

After the year we had last year it’s irresponsible to tell someone from a different area not to have at the very least a backup plan.

August is monsoon time and rain in the afternoon is very possible. Try to hit the passes early.

Planning to be in CO and need help to plan my stay and trails to take. Was there in June 21 but still too much snow to do all of Imogen and Black Bear. Other than staying in Quay. What would be a good plan for 1-2 weeks stay. Pulling my Jeep with my RV. So need to stay in a campground\RV park.
Im trying to convince my wife to let me sell our house and buy and RV. We already have the Jeep, I work fully remote, and the RV will be less than our mortgage so she can quit her job and we’ll still be fine!

Plan is set... Couldn't find anything to stay at in Quray, so staying in Montrose, then hitting Buena Vista, and finally the Breckinridge area. There will be 3 to 4 of us hitting the trails. Can't wait!!!

Biggest issue now will be the fact we have to deal with Hiway 50 construction....bummer.

Biggest fire prob in CO is not allowing controlled burns of the underbrush! Thank you EPA! So when a fire does break out, it runs across the mountain sides like a scalded dog. Fire Mitigation also includes fire Conservation and preventative measures.

I’m 100% remote for work now. I’m trying to sell my wife on letting me sell the house and buy an RV, we could tow the jeep and live anywhere we want!
