Had this happen to me tonight after sitting in traffic for a little over two hours. Attempted to rev the engine up to about 2,000 RPMs to see if it would help charge the battery while I was sitting still to know avail. Having to have it towed to the dealership in the morning. Gggrrrrrrrrr....

update: I got on it this morning and was able to crank it, no indication of battery problems but it sounds like it is running rough. Still going to let them tow it in this morning and have it looked at.

Towed my jeep to the dealer today, they are extremely busy so it will probably be at least tomorrow before I get an update. The service advisor agreed with me that it sounded like an alternator issue. They are also replacing an electronic control module for the coolant pump.

they had it pulled into the shop and on a rack when I called around 2:30 PM today.

Just called my dealer, they were "not able to duplicate the problem" (@JeepCares) even though my car went into battery power saving mode, all electrical systems shut down (including getting errors about the transmission) and I had to push my Jeep out of the way of traffic... Apparently it tripped no codes. I even tried to rev the engine for a couple minutes up to around 2,500 RPM to try and charge the batteries, all to no avail, it still crapped out on me.

Dealership said they load-tested the alternator and batteries and everything checked out fine... (which I don't see how in the world that is even possible). Their next step is to sit it in the parking lot and let it run for a few hours to see what happens...

In the meantime, they have replaced the main coolant pump, the ECM for the coolant pump, and now are replacing the auxiliary coolant pump in an attempt to fix Error code P023A...

I love my Jeep, but this is getting ridiculous...

Which auxiliary coolant pump are you referring to, E-Torque or intercooler?

I’m confused as to why they would replace the main coolant pump when code P023A is ā€œCharge Air Cooler Coolant Pumpā€ which is the intercooler.

To be honest, I’m not 100% sure, I probably should have asked, I don’t know that much about the 2.0 L so I just assumed there was only one main pump and one auxiliary pump.

Got my jeep back yesterday they replaced the PCM (power train control module), the main coolant pump, the auxiliary coolant pumps as well as the ECM for the coolant pumps. (Air coolant)

they said the PCM was causing a power drain on the batteries and causing the lights to come on and the system to shut down.

The reason for replacing all of the coolant stuff was because I kept getting error code P023

I had the same issue at the end of September. Started with the battery saver message and within 45 minutes the Jeep was going haywire (luckily I had made it to a parking lot). Wipers were moving on their own, radio was going off and on, I was able to stop the engine but couldn’t switch out if run mode. I ended up disconnecting the battery cable to minimize any damage that was happening to electronics. Tow truck arrived and towed me to a dealer. Had to wait 2 days for them to start looking at it. They didn’t have any loaner vehicles (this dealer never has any, go figure) and couldn’t get a rental covered since the issue wasn’t diagnosed. When I finally got an update they said the problem was ā€œwhomever installed my after-market accessories failed to tighten the battery cableā€, and the loose battery cable was the cause of my electrical issues (keep in mind I disconnected the cable to get the Jeep to stop freaking out... it had nothing to do with the root issue). They said they could not reproduce any other problems and had nothing to offer. I also had photos and videos of the symptoms happening and they did not want to see them.

3 times since then (this morning being the latest), my Jeep (JLUR2.0) has thrown the ā€˜Battery Saver On’ error, but no subsequent issues after that. The error goes away after the next stop / start. I have noticed a pattern to this though... on all 4 occasions I had remote started the Jeep and let it run for at least 5 minutes before gettin in and turning it on. When I do this, the error appears within 1/2 mile of Leaving my driveway. Sometimes I remote start and jump in within 2-3 minutes, but the issue does not happen then. It’s also usually colder outside when I remote start for 5+ minutes so that could be related, but I think it’s not weather related.

Interesting, I don’t have remote start on mine... I used to get the auto stop/start warning light all the time though.

Just had two full on dead battery issues in the last 10 days. We tow our JL, one of the main reasons we bought it. Nevefr had an issue before. This time we hooked up in Harrisburg PA, towed it through Franklin, MD, Rocky Mount, NC, to Augusta, GA, DEAD. Jumped it, towed on down to Perry GA, fine, no issues. Hooked back up in Perry after a week, several days where we did not start or move the Jeep, and headed back home. Spent a night in Florence SC, checked the Jeep, it started up, no issues, shut it off and headed out. Got to Alexandria VA, our last stop before home and DEAD! Could not even unlock the doors. Got home, jumped it, let it sit connected for a bit before starting. Let it run for a while, took a drive, all is good. OR IS IT? We have trips planed and the Jeep is an integral part of them. We need it to get around where we camp and it is also our 'life boat'. What gives?

it’s doing great, no more codes, everything seems to be functioning as normal. The only thing I think is odd is that the coolant fan seems to run very loudly very often, but they said that as usual and that is performing in specifications. I ended up trading it in Friday on a 19 model Rubicon.

Thanks for the update! I will look into this as I saw there was a recall on the 2018 Wrangler’s PCM. I hope the dealer will be able to replace it.
