Well,I am now a victim of the faulty front folding seat rail clip. My passenger side seat will not unfold back to the original position. While working on one of the sound bar speakers I had to hop in the back. As I was picking up a dropped screw I noticed a plastic clip looing piece and wondered where it came from. Well, as it turns out it is the retention clip (or whatever you call it) that allows the seat to lock into position on the rail so that you can unfold it.

I searched for diagrams or anything to help me figure out where and how this clip fits back into place so that I don't have to fiddle with educating the dealership service department about the item repair.

Does anyone have any info on how to do a self repain/replacement of the clip? The metal hook that sits in the plastic clip is functional and seems to be working just fine. I just wish that I could pop it back into place and get it to work again.

Omg. I found a "clip" behind my passenger seat and didn't know where it came from. I just tossed it in the glove box. Now I'm gonna check the seat! I just make people climb in over the wheel so I don't usually move the seat.. That's for bringing this up! Can't wait for an answer.

Be aware that if it is the same clip you might end up folding the seat over and not being able to unfold it back to the sitting postion. I hope that someone on the forum knows how to seat it back into place and that it is an easy fix.

There was a recall on this but the part pops out so easily. I can't imagine that FCA would not come up with a solid solution.and not replace a crappy part with the same crappy part.

Glad to know Jeep still has not found a reliable way to allow the seats to move forward without breaking something.

The passenger seat in my '97 TJ was designed to slide forward and tumble up so there was more room for someone to get in the back. That seat had a flaw also. There was a cable inside the seat that would break so the seat would get stuck.

Now we have a plastic clip that can break and leave the seat stuck in the forward position?

Anyone have a picture of the clip so I know what to look for?

I hardly ever use my back seat so I don't slide the passenger seat much. Now I know what that part looks like if it pops loose. Thanks for the pic.

So I went into the garage to doodle with that piece, positioning it in the rail the best that I could but couldn't get it to work at first. I can't explain what I did but I think that I had the claw facing the front and after trying it the other way it seemed to snap into place. I moved the seat back to the rear and was able to unfold the seat. I cannot tell if this is going to last but I am not going into the back seat anytime soon if ever. My Jeep works again.

I got a good picture of the clip sitting in the rail this morning. I tested the seat numerous times and it is working fine.
