FCA to Test Jeep Car Sharing / Subscription Programs

Fiat Chrysler will be launching car-sharing and subscription services pilot programs in Boston for the Jeep.

One pilot program will allow 100 owners to rent out their Jeeps through the owner-to-renter car-sharing service Turo. Jeep will allow these 100 owners to offset their monthly payments by renting out through Turo. Appropriately, the top shared vehicle on Turo is the Jeep Wrangler.

The other pilot program is a three-month subscription service in partnership with Avis Budget Group in which owners can swap their Jeeps for other vehicles, like a Ram 1500 pickup or a Dodge Challenger.

A third program to come next month will be called “Car Borrowing” and it will also be through a partnership with Avis. It allows Jeep owners to purchase six “Jeep Coins,” each good for a one-day rental of most Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram vehicles, valid for a year. Participants will be able to pick up the borrowed vehicles or have them delivered.
