Got my Jeep roughly 2 years ago (I think) and had zero clue about the culture that come along with owning one, let alone the customization, off roading, history….all of…just had zero clue.
Like all things I’m into when I like something I dive in. From putting on my own lift and axles, to maintenance, to trips out to Moab I’ve just been loving it. I’ve vicariously brought my Dad with me on all my adventures, calling him, talking about the fun, sending pictures and videos of the amazing things I’ve seen and crazy experiences I’ve had off roading.
He said he always liked Jeeps and even test road one in the late 90’s but it just didn’t fit his frame.
I went to OC beach weekend in MD last year and pulled the top and doors off (we got soaked lol) and let Dad drive it everywhere…he was shocked at the difference from the 90’s Jeep to the JL. Said it was quite comfortable and he really liked it.
I invited him to come camping this weekend with my youngest and myself. Told him we could take my jeep and do a little off roading if he wanted to. He says “sure I’ll see you Friday night”
I pull up to my house and there’s a Jeep in the driveway…I figured maybe he rented one for the weekend to have some fun…NOPE my old man bought a Jeep!
Said he wanted to wheel and he wasn’t kidding! That thing still has temp tags and he was wheeling like a champ! Even did some night wheeling in some property I own in WV. He was crawling over rocks with temp tags still on….even hit the gas tank skid and transfer case skid once or twice and it didn’t even phase him…he asked if he was good and then just kept pushing…I think most folks with their brand new Jeep wouldn’t be up for that. He was and wanted more! Lol
We went and got him his first badge at Wolf Den in MD.
It was seriously such an awesome weekend. We used to ride motorcycles together but after an accident he hung it up. Him having this Jeep gives us that old commonality again.
Good stuff.
