My favorite was 3 year old cars that the insurance company wanted me to get a used bumper cover from 10 states away all to save $40. Like buddy that thing is trash right now and itll be extra trash when it gets to us.
I think it's gotten to the point that shops just go ahead and do it and get the extra $400 supplement to refurbish the cover. "Well you picked the part and made me get it, we can order another one that'll be here in a week or so and you'll be stuck on the rental plus it probably needs the same $400 worth of work."

Our primary company doesn't do stupid shit like that.

I mainly had these issues with Progressive and Geico, and once hte lawsuit penalties ran out on Statefarm they started with it too.

And then they didnt want to pay to fix what we got a lot of the time and wanted us to get another.

I ignored the first party bullshit apps they wanted me to use most of the time and found things local and had really good relationships with all my vendors so I could usually get as good or better of a deal local and move on with my life.

My goodness. This made me think of a client that had a 4x4 truck. He had damage to a tire that was covered, because other damage to the truck caused it. The tires had about 2 thirds wear and he wanted us to replace all 4 tires, because his mechanic had convinced him the difference in tread was going to destroy his diffs. That was all before he was told the tire was going to be depreciated anyway.

We had a dude with a panamera with ROACHED tires, one of them was cut because of the wreck and he pitched a FIT that USAA wasnt replacing all 4 ... They ended up putting 4 on at the end of it.
