On my last JKUR, I used Thule J-cradles for both my 17' sea kayak and Dagger whitewater boat. They worked great, but the one thing I didn't particularly like was having to hulk the boat up on my shoulders (I'm only 5'7) and use a stepladder to get up to the level where the crossbars were. On a calm day it wasn't much of an issue, with a 15 knot breeze blowing in it could get hairy.
I'm not quite as restricted on budget on my JLUR build as I was for my last Jeep, so I'm giving the idea of Hullavators a strong look. The one question I had, was that since we're limited to 60" aero crossbars and the Wrangler itself takes up a lot of that width, is there enough overhang to mount the Hullavator and still clear the side? Any issues with the off-center balance because the cradles are sticking out over the edge? I'm obviously not going to be carrying the kayak when I'm doing technical stuff on the trail, but that is a lot of weight high up and off center.
Thanks!
